protein for body building

Featured Replies

With my diet I started to lift weights again.

As I didn't do it for 12+ years I start super slow and I don't expect anything considering that I am on diet with low carbohydrates at the same time.

But when I am slim enough, I want to slowly increase the carbohydrates I eat and build up muscles.

Before I was used to drink an protein drink after exercise and I think it is a good idea, Also I saw protein powder in many places already.

Are there quality differences? Any that can be recommended or any that should be avoided?

I intend to mix it with fat free milk. It should not contain any carbohydrates (I prefer to add some rice to my food instead having it in the drink).

It should taste good.

Any recommendations? (I saw a lot wheat protein which seems strange to me, back in Farangistan I saw mostly milk protein based or egg protein based or smart mixes).

How old are you? I'm 45 and last time i tried protein I could only take 15 gms of protein instead of 30 gms. I got some bowel and digestion problems with 30 gms. As it is I stopped working out and stick to riding my bike 10 kms each evening - much better for me until I lose 5 kgs. Then might get back to the gym after that.

I could have been to do with the brand I was using, as the previous time, 2 years ago, I had no problem, but that as using a different brand. I'm not too sure about quality differences, and I'm pretty stingy, so I got something cheaper lol. Maybe get a small container and start with that first and see how it goes.

I am 42, I used a 10 year old powder which seems to be OK yesterday and had no problems.

For your problem, 3 or maybe 4 possible reasons:

1 ) the protein is bad quality

2 ) you gulp down half a liter milk (if it was mixed with milk) and it coagulated in your stomach

3 ) Lactose intolerance

4 ) It was full fat milk and the fat caused the problem, or it was a cheapo milk replacement with cheap palm oil as fat xsick.gif.pagespeed.ic.tVTSNn-2vr.png they exist in Thailand

5 ) your bacteria aren't used to it anymore.

1-4 the solutions are self evident. 5 ) Start with small amounts every day and increase and very fast it will be accepted.

Well here in Bangkok riding the bicycle seems to be a form of suicide.

There is a park and I would really like to jogging or roller skating but I am the only Farang here and when I am there I feel like being in the zoo (and I am the animal) which is not really motivating.....So I go for the weight lifting....as well now I look a bit like a spider, big belly and slim legs and hands, some muscle would be a real improvement.
