Pattaya Fireworks Festival - where?

Recommended Posts

Posted

Hi everybody ...

I will be in Bangkok for a week and as I've just found out, the 2nd Fireworks Festival will be held in Pattaya on 29 and 30 November.

Please allow to questions ...

Are both days the same? The same happenings etc.?

And second question: is is just a firework which can be seen while sitting on the beach? Or any other happenings during these two days?

Would the Pattaya experts please reply? ;-) Thanks.

Sorry I cannot assist with exact dates & times but you will see it very clear from the beach. this has to be one of the major Firework comprtitions world wide so enjoy i took Photos one year from 4 km away from a hill overlooking the city with good results the fireworks are big believe me SPECTACULAR

When it was here (2 years ago?) I never seen Pattaya so congested with traffic.

I was coming in my car from the airport and people gave up going downtown in their cars/truck and stayed on Sukhumvit and watched it from there.

This year I will go downtown a bit early and try to find a nice spot and take my motorbike.

I don't know the times too.

Not normally, I have always found the Friday night to be a bit of an anti-climax, where Saturdays normally finish with something spectacular.

If you want to sit under the fireworks, then the beach is the best bet, and vendors rent out deck chairs.

If you cant get there early enough to secure an outside table, then the Beer Garden is a good spot to eat, drink and take photos from.

The viewpoint up on the hill is best for photos of fireworks over the city, but it would be a long night standing up there without any food or drink to me.

Loads of photos of past years out there, such as http://www.flickr.com/search/?q=pattaya%20firework%20festival, which will give you a good idea of what to expect.

IMHO, it still doesnt match New Years Eve for fireworks in Pattaya.

And that posting also answered all my other question concerning other happenings in the city ...

I am still in Germany ... but I will take the plane to Bangkok tomorrow ...

The main “Brighten Your Life” fireworks show will take place on November 30th along Beach Road, which will close between 3:30 and 11:00 p.m. The second day will feature musical performances from Watcharawalee and Slot Machine, a parade of Pattaya schoolchildren and market-style booths. At 9:00 p.m. a smaller fireworks show will commence, followed by a concert from Tattoo Colour at 10:00 p.m.

I'm Still confused about whats supposed to happen when.

Not that they ever stick to schedule anyway, but why does almost every single event have very bad promotion and not enough information ?

Why cant you just give us the times of the firework show if you read the schedule?? How hard can it be?

Is it 7 PM , 8 PM 9 PM ?

Yes, the brand new 'no parking' 4th lane on Beach Road is already being filled up with those little gazebo tents so they will be flogging more sh!te tourist tat and dodgy snacks for the 2 days of festivities. Once the cops set up their 'traffic management' barriers and bugger off back to Soi 9, it will be traffic gridlock from about 4pm onwards so going to stay out on the Dark Side.

Best place to watch the fireworks IMHO is from a balcony at the Dusit Thani. Used to book a room there for NYE each year. Obviously you want a high floor room facing south.

I enjoyed the last one just parking my motorcycle at the end of Pattaya Klang and sitting on the beach there buying beers from the street vendors. Someone said there is only 4 teams? What countries are they?

Last year and also at New Years' the display is the full length of Beach road. In fact, the finale of the USA show was like something out of a sci fi show. Really did light up the entire length of the road it seemed. A roof top view somewhere would be best. Street view gets some buildings and trees in the way. As others have posted, traffic is tough and Pattaya will be very crowded. Not sure I will rush my trip from relatively quiet Ao Nong back to pattaya just to see the show.

Certainly not how I remember last years.

I was at PBG, and during the finale there was a couple of bangs closer to us, but the full length of Beach Road ?

Agree. The display was only on the (half) North part of Beach Road,

and seems it will be the same this year with signs for the Entrance in the FireWork Show Area at Central Beach Festival

I would say a good spot to watch from would be the rooftop bar at the Hilton, but good luck with getting in there!

I think the official website mentions that they will 'close' Beach Road from 3PM onwards so with all the traffic forced onto Second and Third and the subsequent double-parking and the hundreds of tour buses that ferry the real tourists between hotels, restaurants and ladyboy shows....

Sorry I meant the fireworks competition two years ago not the New Year's eve show.

Hilton Edge is also a great spot, not sure whether they take reservations for the firework festival, but they started taking reservations of NY

Two years ago, was not the full length of BR either.

New Years Eve is all over the city, as everyone does their bit at Midnight.

I've heard Beach Road will be closed at Soi 5. Not sure how far north and south of there, but at least there, it's closed for the fireworks. Same as in previous years.

Closed off Friday, Saturday from 3.30pm.

Be advised that along the beach walk from about soi 12 up past Pattaya central rd you cannot walk on the beach or the beach walk .

It is completely blocked off. This forces everyone going from A to B to walk in the traffic lane As far as safety, these folks are not playing with a full deck.

The journey from Pattaya Nua to Jomtien last afternoon took 1 hour 15 minutes. Stop start all the way. Nobody around me switched their engines off when coming to a halt. The waste of fuel must have been enormous.

Would some Mastermind in City Hall or wherever connected brain and stage these extravaganzas out of town so that everybody is not inconvenienced or the air polluted with petrol and diesel fumes? The Thai response was as one might expect. everybody pushing and jostling with total disregard for other road users. It seems that Thainess includes the inability to exercise any forethought.
