Anti-government protesters lay siege to Trang, Songkhla city halls

BANGKOK: -- Hundreds of anti-government demonstrators continued their seizure of the city halls in Trang and Songkhla today to support the anti-Thaksin regime demonstrators led by former Surar Thani MP Suthep Thuagsuban in Bangkok.

'Chadchart' looks for temporary offices for Transport Ministry employees

BANGKOK, 27 Nov 2013, (NNT) - Transport Minister Chadchart Sittipunt is looking for a temporary office for his ministry's employees, while urging all agencies under the ministry to pay close attention to key logistic routes that may be targets of blockage by demonstrators.


According to the Transport Minister, the ministry's employees will work in an undisclosed location. Mr. Chadchart said he had instructed all units to emphasize on providing security to the main logistic routes that would probably be targets of demonstrators, particularly those that had been seized by protesters in the past.

The minister said all modes of transportation, be they airports, bus or train terminals, would be closely monitored. He however expressed his optimism that no incident would occur as a result of the ongoing demonstrations.

Repair work on northern rail line almost finished

DSI prepares to move officials out as protesters go near

BANGKOK: -- DSI chief Tarit Pengdith on Wednesday made an urgent order for officials to prepare to leave the DSI buildings and to move important documents and case files to safer places as the anti-government protesters were marching to his office on Chaeng Wattana Road.


Tarit said that he already assigned his official to negotiate with the protesters. However if it does not work out, the DSI will not confront with the protesters but will move officials to other location. He said he has yet to designate the location.

Police have also been deployed to guard the premises, he said.

Tarit gave the interview before leaving the office.

Hundreds of protesters will march from Silom to police headquarters

BANGKOK: -- Hundreds of anti-government protesters are gathering at Silom Complex on Silom Road on Wednesday.


They would march to Royal Thai Police Headquarters on Rama I Road to pressure on the government and to demand police to stop serving the corrupt government.

Demonstrators mobilize forces to seize provincial halls

BANGKOK, 27 November 2013 (NNT) - Anti-government demonstrators are marching to seize provincial halls across the nation today in a bid to further pressure the government to cave in to their demands.


Over 1,000 protesters occupied the provincial hall in the southern province of Trang late last night. Provincial authorities have instructed police and defense volunteers to prevent the mob from damaging state property during the siege.

In Songkla, up to 200 demonstrators gathered at the province’s city hall, calling for the resignation of the Yingluck administration. Security teams have been stationed around the premise to keep peace and order.

Meanwhile, in Bangkok, protesters led by former Democrat MP Suthep Thaugsuban will today move from the Ministry of Finance to the Government Office Complex on Chaeng Wattana road. The rally is also set to gather at the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) and the Ministry of Commerce.
