Housing and condominium fair draws keen public interest

BANGKOK: -- The 14th Housing and Condominium Grand Fair drew keen public interest as more than 100,000 people have visited the 4-day exhibition with house booking and loan applications reaching 3-4 billion baht, according to an organizer.

Athip Peechanont, President of Thai Condominium Association, said on Sunday that the fair held during May 4-7 at the Queen Sirikit Convention Centre here had brought about a circulation of around one billion baht per day from house booking and loan applications.

He believed more people would decide to buy houses and condominiums of many development projects following the exhibition.

He said the Thai economy was likely to recover and investment in the property business to pick up once political uncertainties began to ease.

Although interest rates continued to edge up, he believed, lending rates would not reach 13-15 per cent like that in the past.

Currently, mortgage rates stay around only 6-7 per cent.

He projected that the property business in the second quarter of this year would be more favorable than that in the first quarter as concerns among property developers had eased upon the establishment of a new government.
