The red shirts are government supporters. if the government agreed with them that they should go home now, as I suspect has happened, then it can only mean one thing. That thing is simple, that the government sees that the anti-government protestors need to be fought and removed by force. So, once the red shirts are safely out of the way and once the protestors have been asked to go peacefully and refused, the army and police will move in and use force. My guess is the use of force will start next Saturday.

Of course they need to be fought. You can't let them hijack government buildings.

anyone seen any photos of this alleged fire? from looking at the stadium I can see no smoke or fire and have not heard gun shots in a couple hours, But I cannot actually see the fly over on Ramkam

Currently, the Yellows just cannot win this. If they somehow managed to seize the government, the angry Isaan Reds would start flooding into Bangkok and eventually, would seize the government back. Ramkhamhaeng University rector Wutthisak Larpcharoensap told Channel 3 at 11:55 am that red-shirt people burned tyres to block police trucks from reaching the university to evacuate trapped students.

The rectors said the student could not leave the campus through the front gate either because some "men in black" on a flyover fired at them.

Channel 3 said some 2,000 students were still trapped in the university.

And the Red Shirt sympathizers here have the chutzpah to go on about the anti-government protesters being thugs.

FWIW, the only clear evidence of firearms I´ve seen is a Red Shirt guard firing a handgun.

The problem has been solved and the students are able to leave again. There were reports of snipers at 1 exit and fires set by red shirt protesters at the other exit to prevent anybody from leaving.

Suthep will achieve nothing by all this except to ensure that the chance of the Democrats winning any future election ( if any at all ) is now more remote than ever. Had the Democrats just sat pat until the next election, the governments own inept running of the country would have been enough to ensure their electoral defeat. As it stands now , the democratic process itself is under attack and the Democrats and Pad just look like a bunch of sore losers who are willing to make a grab for power any way it suits them regardless of any further damage ( on top of Phua Thais ) done to the country. They carp on about corruption yet even Sondhi acknowledged that there is more graft under the democrats than Phua Thai, the only difference being that instead of one family and friends grabbing the lions share, it is distributed into the patronage system as per usual.

In any event, the reds always learn from the yellows. It will be just as easy for them to copy all these tactics if the government is brought down and we have already seen that they can muster large support if necessary. Should that happen the only way out of the impasse would be for the army to start shooting again , but this time with a much larger casualty list. The army must know this and the consequences that would inevitably result for Thailands standing in the international community.

If truth be known it was probably the puppet master who ordered the withdrawal of the Red Shirts.

There is remember Red Shirt factions that opposes the current amnesty bill proposals and along with Jutuporn getting just a little too big for his boots and his inflammatory remarks inciting violence with fatal results has caused the puppet master to actually understand just how precarious his position is.

If we consider that the scenario thus.

Suthep anti govt group is the army of Athens in the Peloponnesion wars. The Athens army achieved their victory in those wars due to their enemies turning on each other.

We are all well aware of the potpourri that constitutes the Red Shirt pro government movement as well as the politicians and their spheres of self interest and self preservation thus the withdrawal tactic to try to unite the Red Shirt factions and also to rein in the more assertive ( loose cannons) leaders who now are usurping Thaksin and his ilk.

Question 1, who mobilized the reds ?????/ who finished up with THEIR money in the end ????? the poor farmer ????? or I have a good Idea it was this lot in power that benefitted. Just to prove it what did they implement after taking office.

All the students were to be issued with a pad ( not Samsung that the PM did show)

15,000 bht uni student start wage.

Rubber--Flood--Rice scam--syphoning off of money allocated to counties meant for roads, etc
