PHUKET: -- The arrest of one drug user in Patong yesterday morning allowed police to make an appointment with five other druggies later in the day.

Acting on the orders of Phuket’s top cop to arrest anyone suspected of drug use, officers in Patong approached Komsak Tongsin, 21, in front of a SuperCheap store on Phrabaramee Road because he “looked suspicious”.

Police found Mr Komsak in possession of five ya bah (methamphetamine) pills.

Mr Komsak told police that he purchased the drugs from Sombat Wantong, 23, and provided the police with Mr Sombat’s telephone number, said Lt Col Somsak Tongkliang of the Patong Police.

“We called Mr Sombat and made an appointment to buy drugs from him at his house,” Lt Col Somsak said.

Once at the house, police were able to arrest Mr Sombat and three other men for possession of a Category 1 drug with intent to sell. Mr Sombat had 1.9 grams of ya ice (crystal methamphetamine); Peeraopong Sangmaneetaweesap, 21, had .5 grams of the drug; Jittakarn Thorpoon, 21, had .3 grams; and Chatree Geeratheeti, 21, had five ya bah pills and was illegally in possession of a .32 handgun.

In addition to the drug charges, Mr Chatree was charged for the illegal possession of a gun.

A sixth man, Jeenapan Sangmaneetaweesap, 20, was not found with drugs, but confessed to police that he had taken them and was charged with using a Category 1 drug.

All six suspects subsequently tested positive for drug use.

When asked by the waiting press about Mr. Sombat's arrest Lt Col Somsak replied " Arrest? Who said anything about any arrest? We just wanted to buy some drugs" biggrin.png

It was the drugs and gun who did it, we all saw it and will say so in court.

Tiny amounts of drugs, still with the gun being found at least it means some thugs are off the streets.

I have never undestood this "point pose' to the thing or person. Why do they do it? For the police archive or for the press?

Any-one idea?

Thailand,,, the hub of snatches,,,,, lol

Snitches,,, I imagine,, 9 year old,,,, on a playground

"Mr Komsak told police that he purchased the drugs from Sombat Wantong, 23, and provided the police with Mr Sombat’s telephone number..."

Yikes! He sang like a canary. I wonder if this is common in Thailand? In the west, nobody likes a rat and they have big problems in prison.

Without the finger pointing, how would we know which one was the crook cheesy.gif

You'd never guess they were druggies especially the skeleton on the left

"Off the streets" Are you joking? 10,000Baht and all is clear. That is in our Muang anyway! Could be different other places.

One rarely sees a report on here where one of the 'perps' fails to sing like a canary...! These thugs are like deer in headlights once they're isolated...!

Exactly. That's why I've always thought it imprudent to hire a Thai hitman. They'll always grass you up.

WOW! A drugsbust of 2.7 grams... and 5(!) 'bad' guys... Finally Phuket is a safe place with all these drugs of the street and the arrest of 5 drugslords...

Probably just 5 guys whose only crime it was that they 'look suspicious'... The problem is that the BIG guys do NOT look suspicious and are 'valued' members of the community. Of course they will NEVER be arrested...

You will be safe now in Patong cheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gif
