chiang mai and chiang rai

Featured Replies

Hi

we will be coming to chiang mai on the 17thdec,if we can get a train! we also want to visit chiang rai is it best to get a hotel in chiang rai or can we travel easy from chiang mai.

thanks

If hotel in C Rai is necessary or not depends on how long you want to stay there. It takes approx 3 hours to get there from C Mai. You can hire a car with a driver. That would cost some 2500thb incl. gas. Or book a bus ticket at the bus station in C Mai that's about 1000thb. And there's always the option to rent a bike, ride there and get lost.

Huh? A bus ticket to Chiang Rai is nowhere near 1,000 baht from Chiang Mai - unless prices have risen a lot more than I have realized. blink.png

The round trip first class to Mae Sai is only 738bt...and that's 30% further again. So 600 tops I would think.
