Last year I got my first Thai driver license for the car and motorbike on the 1st of November. The first ones are valid for one year but today however, I found out that I forgot it. what is the best way to solve it and what do I need to do to extend it? do I have to go to the office in the morning or can I go anytime? I am in Bangkok. thanks for the advice

Your ok

Here you let the one year expire.

Then go in Take a color test & reaction time test & get a 5 year license

Take the same things you took last time

Passport

Doctors paper ( 100 baht anywhere)

Proof of address cert. ( Immigration free or your consulate which is fast but costs )

Your expired Thai licenses

You will need some copies of certain pages of your passport but they do them there for a few baht

Time is anytime they are open

Certificate of residence is free from immigration? What office is this from?

I got my expired 1 year license renewed into a 5 year one after more than one year, as I was not in the country. As so many things, it's up to the daily form, the weather and if he likes you or not. No hard rules.

Mine expired in 1998 and just got it renewed last year.

Thanks, I was thinking a month or so, nothing that extreme. smile.png

Yeah, I think officially you can drive for one month past expiry without getting a fine.

As to the renewal process, it's probably up to the staff you deal with......smile a lot. smile.png
