Khao Man Gkai on Siri Mangala Road, where did it move to?

I happened to live in Chiang Mai in the past and liked the Khao Man Gkai (ข้าวมันไก่นันทาราม) restaurant on Siri Mangkala Road. However when I recently moved back to CM and passed by the shop, it wasn't there anymore. Does anybody else remember that restaurant? It used to be open only until 2pm and served only Khao Man Gkai.

I can't image that they have closed down as they were very successful. So my guess is that they have moved somewhere else as the area around Siri Mangkala gets upscaled.

Any further information as to what happened to the restaurant appreciated.

In previous threads on "khao-man kai," a number of restaurants were mentioned that served a very good version.

The Nantharam Restaurant (cited in your post) was not listed in previous posts . . . . for good reason.

I've eaten at Nantharam on many occasions, but only because it was near my office.

Suggest you expand your horizons and check out some better ones! There are plenty.

I tried a couple of the places that someone highly recommended on that thread and was not overly impressed. Every one in a while I stumble on a "khao-man kai," restaurant that is particularly good, but it has not happened for many years. sad.png

I agree with Ulysses. To each his own, I guess. IMHO, I like my "Hakka Chicken" sliced thick and moist, no skin, all breast meat. No coagulated blood as a bonus. I like a lot of ginger in the bean sauce. And I like lean pork satay as a side-order - I don't need the chunk of fat usually added as a bonus! These restaurants get a thumbs up from me, but that's just me.

What I don't like is thinly-sliced and DRY chicken - it's been flattened by a big cleaver in order to "spread" the slices out and make it look like a bigger portion on the dish.

ข้าวมันไก่นันทาราม - I was there last week. They are still there. They've begun to sell noodle soups as well (about 1 month ago). The satay was moved across soi 5 almost a year ago.
