Looking for a Thai tutor in Sansai/Maejo area

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I am looking for a Thai tutor to provide private lessons at my location in Sansai/Maejo area.

Time and volume: 1-2 hours, 3-4 times a week.

Qualifications: a qualified teacher of Thai with prior experience of teaching Thai to farangs, with recommendations and proof of qualification. Though we may not need to go deep in grammar, I look for a teacher who will be able to answer in English to me at the level of 'verb, noun, preposition, past, future..' not just say 'because we speak this way'.

My current level: about 4-500 words picked up on the way as I lived in remote areas in Thailand with no schools for farangs. Also, I learnt to read and to write Thai letters.. well, some of them at least.

What I need:

1. to develop understanding of a reasonable volume. My near target lies in understanding tv series, far target is to understand a news reporter.

2. to develop conversational skills, preferably by memorizing sentences in dialogues.

3. to develop reading skills (my target is to be able to read a general Thai newspaper.

I am aware it will take time.

Teaching method: any established one, but there has to be one, with printed or e-materials (textbooks) available to purchase. Preferably no proprietory textbooks.

I look for one-to-one sessions available personally and by skype when I am away from Chiang Mai.

Dear fellow tw members: I look for replies here or by pm from perspective candidates (I know there won't be many, but I only need one). Also, I will appreciate recommendations to those tutors you enjoyed. Before I decided to write here, I browsed through all prior discussions on the topic and looked through links given. If I don't find a tutor here, I will go to one of the established language schools in Chiang Mai. Hence, though I appreciate your responses, there is no need to reply with a link to prior discussions. Also, jokes about understanding tv-series, a news report or a newspaper... I do enjoy jokes, and can myself crack some in any given minute, but here I need help and understanding, not a ... you know smile.png

I look forward to your constructive replies.
