webfact
Crackdown On 'Counterfeit' Whistles BeginsBy Khaosod EnglishBANGKOK: -- Blue Sky TV has announced a crackdown on sales of counterfeit whistles in anti-government rally sites. The satellite channel, which has been serving as official mouthpiece of the ongoing protests led by the People′s Committee for Absolute Democracy With the King As Head of State (PCAD), said on a Facebook post that sales of unauthorised whistles would no longer be tolerated.A symbol of anti-government movements, the whistles are ubiquitously worn by PCAD supporters in their rallies. But Blue Sky has previously complained that many vendors in PCAD rally sites have copied the special design of whistles official adopted by the channel, which come in shapes similar to a lightning, and stated that these actions amount to copyrights infringement. The channel also sells its own "premium" lightning-shaped whistles, costing up to 999 baht per piece. In the same Facebook post, Blue Sky staff claimed that security guards employed by the channel have confiscated their first batch of countefeit whistles sold at PCAD rally site around Pathumwan Intersection, and said that the guards would do so in all other PCAD protest sites across Bangkok as well. The announcement also asks for understanding from anti-government protesters, stating that vendors of counterfeit whistles are profiting from opportunistic business ventures which would undermine the channel′s enterprise.Furthermore, Blue Sky channel would take legal action against manufacturers of these counterfeit items, according to the statement posted on Facebook. The announcement has attracted many comments from the Netizens. While many expressed their support for Blue Sky′s crackdown on unauthorised whistles, others raised concerns that security guards employed by Blue Sky do not have legal power to confiscate items suspected of violating copyrights. Some PCAD supporters also commented that the crackdown might alienate many vendors in the protest areas.Source: http://www.khaosod.co.th/en/view_newsonline.php?newsid=TVRNNE9UZzFNamswTWc9PQ== -- Khaosod English 2014-01-16

Popular Post pipkins
Totalitariansim at its best. Another group they have now made angry are the street vendors. If they have their livelihood confiscated won't they be driven to join the reds. Lovely to see things this petty making the news. If nothing else, it shows us there are no mass crowds to photo, no great speaches, no violence, no resignations etc. Just more looney tunes from the people who brought you ASTV, PAD and 18 Coups. What an arrogant bunch. meanwhile it's lost on the protesters that the Cartaker Government does not need the agencies open whilst it is in cartaker mode. It affects the country not the Government as everybody sees who is closing them down.... It's on Bluesky for gods sake. Think they reall need a PR guru here and the first thing he will tell them all is <deleted> and get Suthep and that Student Thug off the TV Screens. Nobody will blame the government if they can't get their passports, ID cards goods through customs. They'll blame the people blocking it... Unless some of the knee jerkers are going to specify who and why the blame will fall else where. PS. Is there software avaible that can remove words like Thaksinocracy or Phue Thaksin and replace them with "Sorry, I used a word here that I don'n understand, but I seen others posting it and think it's clever. In the case of original thought, I'll try something else one say soon" Awaits standard Bluesky anti thaksin rant or references to ficticious rhetoric from the stage. I even heard today that 60,000,000 are supporting Suthep.... On here so it must be true
Popular Post NongKhaiKid
Is Tarit and DSI going to take the case, it certainly will need their expertise starting with his obligatory press conference to give the offenders time to clear out their bank accounts and flee the country.
pookiki
Copyright infringement? On a whistle? Sounds like corruption to me! Blue Sky must protect its monopoly interests at the protection sites for sure! Can't have any honest competitive capitalism now, can we?

Popular Post JeremyBowskill
I would like to report the security guard downstairs at my apartment for owning a Counterfeit whistle. May I suggest y'all send round a dozen policemen and kick 7 shades out of him for it. Where as I have no actual proof its Counterfeit, he is an annoying pr!*k with it so good enough for me.
Popular Post mca
I wonder if ELO are going to sue Blue Sky channel for counterfeiting part of the name to one of their songs. Although I reckon the best thing would be if they adopted it as their theme song and the presenters all gave their news reports using a vocoder.

RKASA
Sounds like a vast redwing conspracy to undermine the protest - blaim the convicted man in self exile. "BlueSky can only claim copyright infringement if they have actually copyrighted their products....." hay they copied them first so they have the right - that is based on a real case here in Thailand - one based on tie downs for pickup trucks - two compinies sue each other over whom had the rights to make the copy of the product from the US - one of them won. Don't have to make this stuff up - its true.

I assume they have their name on them, and I would equally assume that the BlueSky name is definitely copyrighted. If the fakes have the BlueSky name on them, they are infringing.
