Elderly Man Killed as Pickup Truck Crashes into Motorcycle
Picture from responders. An elderly man was tragically killed after a speeding pickup truck belonging to a department store collided with his motorcycle on a main road in Nakhon Si Thammarat. The victim was thrown onto the road and died instantly. Police were alerted to the fatal crash on Therd Phra Kiat Road in Pak Nakhon, Mueang District, on the afternoon of 8 February. Investigators from Mueang Police Station, along with medics from Maharaj Nakhon Si Thammarat Hospital and rescue workers from the Pracha Ruam Jai Foundation, rushed to the scene. They found the lifeless body of an unidentified man, estimated to be around 55–60 years old, lying in the middle of the road. Nearby, a heavily damaged green motorcycle without a number plate was discovered approximately 30 metres from the point of impact. A white Toyota pickup truck, registered in Surat Thani, was found at the scene with damage to its front right side. According to initial police inquiries, the victim had been riding his motorcycle out of a side street opposite a local market when the high-speed pickup truck struck him. The force of the collision sent the motorcycle flying more than 30 metres, and the rider was thrown onto the road, dying instantly. The pickup driver remained at the scene and cooperated with police. He claimed that the motorcycle suddenly emerged from the side street into his path, giving him no time to brake before the fatal impact. Hmm, thats the problem, I don't think he has the ฿800K for a retirement visa. Few years back I lent him money to get him through the ฿400K marriage visa thing. How does the supporting a Thai child work? Still concerned about land. They mortgaged themselves up to the eyeballs to buy and build a resort. Not in a tourist hotspot so it's reliant on the locals. Pretty sure the money came from the local Chinese money lenders which is dodgy just from the get go, and God knows what the paper trail is. Now I'm watching this train wreak from across the ocean and just trying to help the best I can. Recruited a Swedish mutual friend who speaks German, I speak Thai and we're trying to navigate him through this. My wife is on the case with her contacts in the local Government, but TiT you know how that goes -

Fearing for their safety, concerned locals alerted police, only to discover that the source of the commotion was a foreigner’s pet lion, previously seen being driven around the city in a convertible. The incident took place in Soi Phratamnak, Pattaya, where people living between Soi 5 and 6 reported loud, unsettling roars throughout the night. Officers from Pattaya City Police Station responded to the complaints, expecting to find a noisy party or loudspeakers, but were instead confronted with the unmistakable sound of a lion. Upon investigation, police determined that the two-year-old lion was being kept inside a private residence. The repeated roaring had caused widespread fear and discomfort among both locals and visitors staying in nearby accommodations. Attempts to contact the homeowner or tenant were unsuccessful, leading police to escalate the matter to their superiors. Authorities are now working on possible solutions in coordination with relevant agencies. The same property had previously been the focus of an investigation by both police and the Department of National Parks, after a foreign man made headlines for taking the lion on a joyride through central Pattaya in a luxury sports car. Everyones first instinct is to run but that pickup driver gave reason for them to arrest him whereas he wasnt responsible, he shouldve just stayed
