Take Vitamin D3 5000iu everyday...it's a tablet that will help you.

Contrary to popular believe it isn't actually a Vitamin but a hormone & will raise your Testosterone Level a little. Some K2 works synergistically also.

Have a good diet...you know the score, fresh veg & fruit & plenty of meat & fish. Go easy in the gym & warm up for 20 mins before any heavyweights.

Leave Steroids alone...unless you have low testosterone.

My advice to the OP is that, from reading his post, it doesn't sound like his diet is in check. A great resource for someone approaching 50 wanting to get into shape is bodyforlife.com - it is a 12-week fitness program originally published as a book in 2001 by Bill Phillips, hitting No.1 on the New York Times bestseller list. Despite the plan pushing protein-powder, it is very simple to follow and has lots of info about food and nutrition. It has free diet and exercise planners for you to print out and use. You can still follow the program without the supplements.

After a heart attack I stopped smoking. Even though eating habits remained the same I put on a ton of weight. Cardiologist suggested testosterone (injections, no tablets at that time) as a possible solution to turn excess fat to muscle. But he wanted to check my current testosterone level first. Not needing Viagra or any other such drug I was pretty sure my level was OK. Yep it turned out to be slightly higher than average so the doctor wouldn't give me injections.

A couple of years later an Aussie doctor friend retired and came to Thailand for a visit. He was self administrating testosterone tablets for the same reason. He said trouble was they made him so horny he felt like raping anything from 16 to 60 walking down the street. He stopped taking them.

My advice would be go see a doctor and get your testosterone level checked first and then discuss supplements. There is no shortcut to getting fit. Exercise is really the only way. I've lost 4kgs, and one notch on my pants belt, since Xmas in walking my dog in 2 one hour sessions per day. All the time the cool weather is here I'll continue to do so. But I'm sure I'll not be able too once it starts to heat up again.

Best wishes.

You are going to be sore at first, because you are stressing muscle fibers (which basically tear and rebuild), you have not exercised in a long time so the lactic acid builds up as well causing the pains, ever heard the saying "No pain, no gain?". On the testosterone subject, I would suspect you probably have a decrease in T because you are a middle aged man. I would suggest you get a blood test done to see what your level is exactly, but if you are sure you have a decrease and want to forego the test, I suggest you use Andriol Testocaps, comes in a blue box and is found at many pharmacies. Take two capsules a day (morning and evening for 80 mg total) and see if that does not improve your life. Normally, it takes about 10 days for it to saturate into the system, but do not expect to look and feel like a 20 year old again.

I don't understand why people keep taking tablets as it is proven to be toxic for the liver combine that with the fact most males on Thaivisa like to drink it could do real liver damage.

The process (as far as i know and i looked it up andriol has the same problem) is that any oral steroid has a coating so the liver cant destroy the active ingredient. This coating is real bad for the liver (the reason body builders only use them for 10-12 weeks max some even less but granted higher dosages but they wont drink with it).

If you go the HRT be a real man and take care of your body take injections and save your liver. For everyone considering pills do some research especially if you still want to consume alcohol.

Ok mate, lets do a test, i will stretch and warm up a bit and you dont.

Then we sprint 100 meters. Assuming you havent pulled or torn anything, i will buy u a beer to celebrate. ;-)

you are writing nonsense....

A 100 meter sprint isn't exercise with weights.

Not stretching doesn't meant no warm up at all.

You right, all the pro's do not know much when they stretch and warm up before performing and stay "warm" after.thumbsup.gif

Might be different for the pros, who are full of steroids, some of it damage the lubrication of the the joints and tendons. As well the tendons aren't elastic as at normal people do to the steroids. They may need it.

But to quote Nick Mitchell who trains movie stars:

"If you thought the best way to warm up was five minutes in the treadmill, it's time to think again. How can a gentle jog prime your muscles for a hard weights session, especially if you're training your upper body? Here's what you need to do.

The warm-up

The most effective way to warm up your muscles is to perform progressively heavier versions of the moves you'll doing in the workout itself. Start with a few reps at an easy weight.......blablabla

The cool-down

Cooling down is simple for this programme: drink a protein shake and hit the shower. That's all."

Sorry but have you actually ever seen the inside of the gym? Or trained in the past 50 years or so?

Actually I use a combination of both.. i start with a 5 minute row on a rowing machine good full body warmup. Then i start off doing progressively heavier weights i start of with a light weight and then add more for my workout weight.

I don't do any stretching at all but warming up is not something i forget, i have almost injured myself once not warming up hitting the weights straight. I never had that problem when I was 20 though.

I am 44 yrs old retired male. I went to see a doctor and ask him to check my hormone levels. My levels were below normal so I take hormone shots every 3 weeks. Ladies menopause been treated for ages, male menopause seems to be a taboo.

Go and have your blood checked, hormone therapy might enhance your quality of life quite a bit.

May I ask why you had him check your hormone levels? I'm 47, I came to the USA about 9 months ago to take care of my mom as she was sick and now I put on about 12kgs. I feel tired all the time. I had my testosterone checked, which was ok. I don't think the doc I'm seeing is that good. All he says is why he thinks I'm tired is that I have sleep apnea. Maybe I do, but don't know why I just started being tired all the time about 2 years ago. What symptoms did you have?

Think i need to find a new doctor. Just joined a gym to start exercising and lose some weight, before I come back to Thailand. But like I said I'm tired all the time so hard to have the energy to go to the gym after I do things for my mom.

Ericthai, did they just check your testosterone or did they do a full check i.e. Thyroid function, liver function, cholesterol, check iron levels, calcium levels, etc

Also, any other info you can give, increase/decrease in appetite or thirst. Any cravings for particular foods? Any change in sleep pattern? Even something you think is trivial or not important, share because it might point to a problem.

There is a massive knowledge base on this forum and although health professionals should always be consulted for health problems, armed with a little more knowledge/advice you might be able to get the help needed quicker.

And as most people are aware, some health professionals are more professional than others.

I was tired all the time and changes in my libido. Symptoms are similar to a depression with no morning hard on! By the way I also have sleep apnea. Treated with machine and mask, not using it since hormone shots and regular gym. Feeling great!

"Id love some links to the numerous autopsies on bodybuilders id love to learn more about this. I suppose it is possible at doses that some of the top bodybuilders take. But I have never heard of this so i would love to read your data. Thanks if you can supply that."

I haven't commented on this previously, because I was hoping you would get a response and some 'evidence' would be provided.

There's always been claims made about internal organ enlargement. Considering how many body builders, powerlifters, wrestlers, mixed martial artists, American football players, etc are using steroids worldwide, I don't see much evidence of people dying because of enlarged internal organs.

It would appear the heart in particular is supposed to enlarge in athletes

My comment was actually a way to see if he had evidence to back it up, use is so wide spread but i have heard nothing of this and yes the heart often enlarges in athletes even without stuff.

Before when everyone meant that abs are need to be made every time. We did abs first as warm up, and than starting with very low weights to warm up these muscles. That was the way everyone did it in the good old times....

Well Schwarzenegger needed an heart operation.......

But the main problem on the abuse is oral steriods and liver problems. That can start to get problematic at high doses (crazy high doses) after 12-15 week

Of course you pay for it for days afterwards if you keep starting and stopping, you daft sod! What do you expect? Why don't you run and swim, short distances and work up, and use some light weights. Drugs? No comment!

As others have stated get a blood test and see what your testosterone levels are. I'm also taking Nebido and have seen a lot of the aches and fog disappear. Still struggling with motivation though.

My experience has been you can get anything you want prescribed in Thailand regardless of what the test results are so be responsible with it.

Don't consider taking any Steroids until you have a Full Hormone Panel.

You need: Testosterone/Oestradiol/LH/FSH measured by a blood test.

This will determine if you have low testosterone or not. Once you've seen a doc & had this done, take it from there.

Exactly ! Get your bloods done. Unless your superman, your test levels will be low at your age, so look into HRT. After a few weeks you will feel fantastic.

Can't belive the narow minded comments on here re; drugs are bad ! Drugs save lifes- Drugs enhance quality of life !

I in 5 men die from heart disease...What's that got to to with Arnold? Look at the guy now ... 66 yrs old and looking fantastic !

h90 ... Arnie had a hole in his heart ... from birth ... so, theoretically speaking, steroids must have helped him (not that I am advocating use or non use) ...

had contemplated it myself, when I got teary in a movie "Empire of the Sun" ... (but found buying tissues cheaper and sitting down to piss) ...

Daniel Boon. Been sitting down to p*ss for about ten years. I wish I'd discovered it much earlier. You are only the fourth man I know who's admitted to p*ssing like a girl :) Anybody else out there ready to come out of the closet?

It's so much easier. Especially in the middle of the night when my brain function, and therefore my accuracy, is very limited.

h90 re your comment about Arnold and his heart operation. I have to agree with ginglee. I don't believe there is any reason to associate his steroid use with his heart trouble.

He does like to smoke big fat cigars, drinks and must have been using steroids throughout his bodybuilding career. And he's still going strong.

As for the toxicity of oral steroids, I'm with you on that one. As an example, Nap50's. Guy I used to train with (23 years ago) started taking one a day. After 3 weeks upped it to 2 a day. His strength and size were starting to noticeably increase, but so was the lower back pain he was getting.

After 5 weeks the pain was getting debilitating.

When he started p*ssing blood, he stopped taking Naps immediately. Few days later, no back pain and waterworks back to normal.

But, as mentioned before, there is a big difference between use and abuse.

Personally, I've never touched Nap50's. They scare me.
