Has the protest in BKK effected your daily life in PHUKET so far? be it in terms of business, social etc....

Certainly we gained, tourists from BKK, in the early stages but it does seem like people are staying away?

Yes, people are staying away and have been staying away for quite some time now. I'm sure some people are rebooking their Bangkok vacation to Phuket, but with more not coming the result is negative.

No - not effected my daily live, or business. Maybe if they close the airport then that would be more dramatic.

Not sure our 'drop' is linked, pure speculation at this stage.....

That said, some of my suppliers are reducing import deliveries from Europe to 1/week - again no real issue, but i suspect as this drags on the effect could be compounded come year end

The Revenue area office in Phuket and province revenue head office in Surat are closed which affect me because I need to get two English certificates from them before I leave to Europe to attend change of lessor for rental properties, and following a few telephone calls last week none can predict when they will reopen. Tax can be paid online but not issue of the certificates.

Good thread because I was wondering the same thing myself as I'm supposed to move over to Phuket with my family in a few months.

If this is really effecting the place then I'm hesitant to make such a huge move. How badly is this effecting the place and from prior experience will these protests have negative repercussions for the island?

I strongly have the impression that this high season there are more western tourists in Phuket/Khao Lak/Krabi/Ranong than the previous years, it is difficult to find hotel rooms. But I don't know how places geared for Chinese/Koreans/Japanese are getting along.

We had lots, about 40% total, of CHinese for the CNY period - still around 13% of our totalas of last night - this includes HK
