Gunshots and firecracker explosion near Pathumwan protest stage

BANGKOK: -- Three gunshots and a loud explosion from what believed to be a giant firecracker were heard at Hua Chang bridge near the Pathumwan protest stage early this morning. There were no injuries however.

The explosions at about 1 am prompted a group of military police who were on guard at the BTS station at Rajthevi to rush to the scene of explosions at a supporting pillar of the skytrain in front of the Central Christian Office for an investigation.

A public telephone kiosk at the scene was found to have a bullet hole punctured through its glass wall. No bomb fragments were found and it was thought that the loud explosion came from giant firecracker.

Protest guards at the Pathumwan protest stage also shut down checkpoints near the Hua Chang bridge.

Don't you love the way Thaksin sycophants manage to minimise and condone every act of violence and intimidation against the protesters? Now it's children with guns shooting at nobody.

Well the quintessential western UDD supporters are Jeff Savage (burn down Central World) and Connor Purcell (Beggar and liar) so that says it all really.

Fanatics are drawn to the UDD like terrorists are to Al Qaida.

Glad there were no injured in this instance and I hope they catch the culprits.
