In answer to Lop's question, no it was in Pattaya
In that case I believe things have probably not changed here in Bangkok. In other places it will be the same people doing the address report so they may count your appearance. Do you by any chance have a "receipt of notification" paper in your passport with a reporting date three months in the future? This is the normal proof that you have reported your address and is collected when you return to make your next report. At least here in Bangkok. :o

Thanks much for your feedback. Will have to put more 'terms & conditions' in my posts. :D

Lop,

Yes i got the bit of paper in the back with a date that is 90 days afetr the date of the "permission to stay" stamp is dated, ie 90 days from last thursday.

Maybe Bangkok is different? :o

In that case you did report your address without knowing it as that paper is at the bottom of the reporting form, which you have to sign. As you did it at the same place/time as your visa extension it probably did not seem so. Here in Bangkok you have to go to a different room to report so is more obvious that it is not part of the visa extension process.

As for the Dr's comment about Aussie charm my memory of Angeles City is they had one hand around the girl and the other around the beer. I was only observing mind you. :o

Still trying to get the chronology together - you arrived in September? - applied for extension in December - granted extension last week and have not been out of Thailand? So if it was Bangkok you should have reported address first during your December visit for extension and then again last week it would be almost due. So guess they did give you extra time if you didn't have a paper like you have now after the December visit.

At any rate glad everything worked out ok and you didn't get hit for the 2k baht fine some get.

Lop,

Yes that is pretty much the order. Arrived september, stamped until december, didn't renew stamp just applied for a permission to stay, got 4 under consideration stamps, then the permission to stay stamp, reported to immigration and got the 90 day reporting paper dated from the permission to stay start date.

The only other bit of the puzzle (and I don't think it made any difference as it is different departments) is that my work permit was being extended at the same time as my permission to stay was under consideration.

As for Aussies, girls and beer, well all I can say is we like to enjoy ourselves wherever in the world we are and beer and girls are always a staple for any successful venture.

Drinking mango juice, (which I can't seem to find in Thailand), of course.
