I have a submerged water pump that has expired in one of my fountains. Tried to remove it but failed so don't know the name of the manufacturer. Went to the shops in Kad Kamtieng that sell them and got the helpful response " we sell them but don't fix them, and don't know who can repair".

Does anyone know a shop or an individual who can repair such a thing?

May be silly question but....did you manage to retrieve it and clean it.

A pump should run for years and more often than not the problem is a blown pipe joint from the pump or more commonly the filters is full of weed and tiny snail shells.

before you give up and buy another pump, switch off power! Ipull the pump out and remove the outer filters...the bottom. There is another filters inside just clean with brush and rinse and re assemble...if there is no power to the unit check your external fusebox.

I have small pump and I have to clean it every 6 months when I notice the fountains not as high..

It was installed two years ago and has only to pump clean water, no plants or fish. No it has not been cleaned because it cannot be disconnected, that is why I need a competent repair service. It simply stopped one day, but the power supply is still operating.

At last I found a place by walking around carrying the pump until I was able to find a repair place. It is at Kuang Sing. Drive on the frontage road past Tesco Lotus and continue until about 100 metres from Kuang Sing junction. Park wherever you can. The shop is on the left just past the FB battery shop. Hope this helps.

Any ideas what it looks like ?

most have a filter in them which needs cleaning, if clogged up then water will not pass = will not work

you also need to pull out the motor and clean from time to time

what happens to most of mine is the spindle snaps after a couple of years...... so far never found new spindles, you have to buy the motor with spindle and blades. most of my pumps are large, [have 8 large ones] a new Motor cost 400 - 1,000 baht depends on size.... a new pump cost 3,500 - 6,000 baht !! again depends on size

What do you mean ? cannot be disconnected

to repair in the pool/pond in place the front cover if it is like the picture, can be got off, use a flat head screw driver, put on the crack between front cover and main body, push down, should just the pop off, or give a little twist,,, inside is a block of foam, this need cleaning...

If the motor or spindle is broken... there is a plastic bit over the motor/fan blade that you must give a little turn and it comes off, pull hard [magnet] on the blade to pull it out, you will need to take it to a bigger Fish Supply Shop of Market, with luck they will have a new motor of the same size.

If your pump is only small, still needs cleaning, but a new one cost from 165 baht up to about 400 baht and is throw away if stops working.. somehow they never last that long and just stop.. maybe replace 10 a year !! I do buy a wholesale box of 10.

Look like this

Hi tomster. It is the shop to the right of that open fronted repair place. So it is not adjacent to FB but one unit removed to the right in the pic. The old guy on the desk said "ready tomorrow" without even looking at it. He uses an abacus that is sitting on the desktop.
