Thai Social Security/Health Card--Renew

Featured Replies

I have this government card and I pay 360 baht per month, which I continued after I left my job here.

However, the card I have is about 4 yrs old. The last time I went to my allotted hospital, they treated me after a lot of fuss--even though I could see myself on the computer as "current". I was told that I must renew the card, in future.

A Thai friend took me 5 years ago to the SS office in Silom near the Bkk Christian Hosp. That friend still insists that it is the only place to renew. Speaking for myself, I don't believe that. What do people living in the suburbs do? I live in Lad Prao.

If anyone can suggest what I ought to do...thanks

Thanks Sheryl

Do you know whether these grant new Health cards? My Thai friend says that there is an SS office near me but that it only deals with Unemployment benefits rather than the Health service.

Do you know whether these offices are open during the demos?

Eddy

My employer paid the SS tax for me while I was employed, I think it was 750/month. When I left the company I was able to collect the 60,000 baht he had paid into it for me since I'm over 55. But I never used the health coverage preferring private hospitals.

yes i think you can get money back after 55 BUT you can NOT remain a SS beneficiary, (which i think you don't care about)

Make sure that SS has your current address.

They should send you a new card in the mail. Every 2 years now, I think.
