February 19, 201412 yr Hello all We are traveling to Phuket in April, and was wondering if there is any places near Phuket where I can do some land base fishing. Or if anyone can point me in the right direction on some reasonable charters. Regards Gerry

February 20, 201412 yr Author thanks nedkellylives So looks like a fishing charter is the go, I will ask at the desk if they can recommend anyone. This is my third time to Thailand and every time I promised myself to go fishing, this time for sure. Regards Gerry

I tried nearly every headland on the island, N,S,E,W. Never caught a thing. Locals also agree it's a waste of time unless your squid fishing. Anyone had a different experience to this?

February 20, 201412 yr The fishing around Phuket has deteriorated considerably over the last 10 years or so and is now pretty pathetic if you are a serious fisherman.if you fancy spending all day chasing a couple of skipjack tuna then by all means pay your money and get on a charter boat. Very few real game fish around anymore.
