Regarding the announcement by red-shirt leaders that they would lead red-shirt people to confront the PDRC protesters, Suthep indicated that the red shirts might face attacks by unknown gunmen.

"They should come because popcorn vendors have made popcorn for them," Suthep said, referring to the gunmen at the clash between the red shirts and PDRC protesters before election day. The clash saw some gunmen covering their rifles with popcorn bags.

"Natthawut Saikuar and Jatuporn Promphan should really come … I don't know these popcorn vendors but I really love them."

That sounds like a threat to me, Suthep seems to be making a joke about his little gang of thugs and not just a little bit proud of it... hmmmm peaceful my ass. And you really think this guy can be trusted to make things better for the country ? facepalm.gif

They are all good southern boys

Suthep's campaign to boycott Thaksin companies has already had a significant success. The stocks have plummeted, and people are also becoming much more informed as to their identity. Thaksin ironically boycotted one of his own companies. He denied the farmers to occupy one of his hotels today, where rooms had been booked with the help of the PDRC. Thaksin barred the farmers from his own hotel. Not likely to appear on any forthcoming Pheu Thai poster.

" Suthep also thanked the Civil Court for ruling on Wednesday that the government could not invoke the emergency decree to crack down on protesters. "

For those interested in acts of intimidation, need look no further than Chalerm, who today in an act of clear defiance against the Civil Court ruling, went on national television this afternoon requiring them to " clarify " their detailed nine order ruling. He complained to them - through national television - that the ruling restricted him. And in an unprecedented jaw-dropping move, he reminded the judges of the " beneficial " things he has bestowed on them in the past - whatever that means. Chalerm may indeed want to be able to clear the streets of Thaksin's foes by any and all means he deems fit, but he has no right to browbeat the judges of the Civil Court on national television to coax the ruling he desires.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is intimidation.

the shin corporation shares fall down 6% overnight. Many shareholders would be not happy, that includes suthep's financial backers.

I don't think he will be allowed to run this boycott for a long

Don't you think his backers new before and might even bought some put options on the shin corporations and made a killing at the expense of Taksin and use that to finance the rightful struggle against the Shin dictatorship cheesy.gif That would be irony (not to mention illegal)

Is insider-trading actually illegal here ?

I thought it was regarded by many as being merely a clever business strategy ! rolleyes.gif

Well there it is, Suthep threatening red shirts with getting shot.

Anyone who respects him for such utterances has no business ever condemning those hot headed red shirt leaders that called for violence in 2010. They are the same. Completely lost their sense of responsibility. And any posters who defend either side in such declarations have just been sucked too far into this business for their own good and should find a different hobby to wile away the rest of their morally-decaying lives with. You're welcome.

Jesus christ.
For a long time I saw this as something that would eventually be quelled.
For the first time in the past few day I have actually had to atleast entertain the thought of, ok, what exactly would I do if this all suddenly got way out of control. This kind of talk is exactly what whats made me perk up my ears. This is a little more hardcore than what we saw before the battle of the bridge.

getting a bit cocky isn't he? will be his undoing.

No drone shots of the mob today = business as usual = poor turnout.

getting desperate to wrap this up, but how? he don't have the numbers of backing.

No matter how we criticise Suthep and his protesters...whether the numbers are small......they have been at this relentlessly for almost 4 months....the effect is that the PTP are almost done....with a major number of farmers from their base areas....major corruption charges looming...Suthep is having an impact.

So is gangs of young men beating up lone voters who are just trying to cast their votes. Both sides in this poxy drama are guilty of intimidation and violence, and both sides should stay off the streets permanently and resolve matters by political dialogue and by facing criminal charges for their various offences over the years. The current situation is just causing more volatility and problems for everyone and is not resolving anything.

Does Popcorn vendors = paid gunmen for the anti-government leaders.

And since when can you sue for something that had not been enacted on by the courts, hello Suthep the verdict hadn't been reached before the incident....

What you say is correct, bluenosecodger, but as a key Western ally in South East Asia, Thailand gets a pass on all these kind of extrajudicial killings and the like. Tak Bai, the war on drugs, 1992, 1976, the massacre and rape of Khmer refugees, Rohingyas towed out to sea, etc.

this rather an ironic statement when Australia a first world country does the same thing. We tow illegal immigrants back out to sea and or their port of departure. Interesting indeed. Australia gets a pass as well... Oh dear!

They're not unknown gunmen, Suthep has already admitted they are PDRC.

Suthep: PDRC member involved in Laksi shooting

BANGKOK, 3 February 2014 (NNT) - People’s Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) leader Suthep Thaugsuban has admitted that one of those involved in the Laksi shooting on Saturday is a member of the PDRC.

During a speech to his supporters last night, Mr Suthep verified that two shooters wearing green arm bands are PDRC members. He urged his supporters to refrain from carrying weapons into the rally sites as violence had repeatedly escalated into gunfire.

He added that members of the public who wished to join the rally would need to register their names with the guard in a bid to better identify their members.

Mr Suthep insisted, however, that men in black who were spotted at the scene are not with the PDRC and suspected they are professional gunmen.

Police continue to probe into the incident which left several people injured. Police have so far accused the PDRC guards of starting the shoot-out.

Who cares?

Even if it is a known fact. I fully support armed defense of protesters after they are constantly attacked by these red shirt terrorists.

These UDD thugs need to be getting the message that the protestors are no longer going to tollerate being pushed around without protection from the police, and they are willing to arm themselves.

If the reds come to town and get their asses shot dead, then they have themselves to blame. I will personally support it.

Moan all you like, every man has the right to protect themselves.

Protesters have never armed themselves and went to hunt out people to be violent against. Only the red shirts have done this. They will reap what they sow.

OFFENSE = BAD

DEFENSE = GOOD

Get used to it.

How about countless night attacks on protesters? Hand grenade attacks? Hundreds of injured? Dozen dead? Threatening artists, actors and intellectuals for joining the protest? Threatening business community which decided to support protest? Intimidation uber alles.

What’s wrong with red troll brigade on this forum? The man offers free popcorn to your proven terrorists leaders and you complain and whine like women? Don’t you have any sense of humor?

Incidentally, he hasn’t broken any laws yet. Chalerm has. wink.png

name your source of information and i will follow it up .just so we can agree on this ok,because the police would never ever carry any weapons,wai2.gif

Advise you to read posts before you start using them as cyber punchbags. Starting with mine above, that you launched into without noticing that most of it was me saying "both sides are guilty of violence and intimidation."

"Whine like women" I had a lol there because I'm a woman.

"Red troll brigade" was lol number two, because I've been launching ballistic firestorms at Yingluck and PTP since 2010.

Nice joke, it just shows which kind of "man" he is.

People rant about Chalerm and ear medicines, then approve the daily s..t that this mafia boss spits out every day.

Suit yourselves... put yourselves at his level. Oh no... many of you already did that, and show it in every post.

Not differently from the "Thaksin is my idol" side as well... So no excuses for both side. Just cheering the buffoon in charge, just to feel part of something, without think with your brain and understand that the two sides are as dangerous and violent as each other.

I fail to see what is red about condemning threats of armed violence by anyone myself... we have far too many PRDC supporters mistaking normal liberal non pro anything posters for being red... this is happening again and again of late... your not paying attention some of you are you ?

If your against the PRDC threatening armed violence you must be red... WRONG

Read your history, when group think becomes the norm everyone not with you must all be in league against you ... WRONG.
