This attack is of course despicable, but like all things there is cause and effect and the attack needs to be put into context.

Cause Taksin, effect wounded and death.. just like before.

I hope that is clear enough for you.

It is so painful having to read the junk you post among other more insightful posters.

If you say so but he was justifying this violence.. by putting cause and effect into play. Obviously he and I have a different idea about cause and effect.

Why are people taking children to these protests? I have a five year old daughter and therefore those pictures of her in the hospital hit me pretty hard. I remember in 2010, people holding screaming babies above barricades in Bangkok. Leave the kids at home!

She was eating at the noodle stall in the maRKET not protesting

The Red shirts cannot justify this in anyway shape or form. It's murder and physical assault of innocent citizen's plain and simple. That's a fact.

Trat?!?!

I thought all the anti-government protesters were rich elite in Bangkok or radical Deep Southerners according to several TV experts.

Sad to say!

When they stray out of their stronghold of Bangkok, and attempt to recreate in other parts of the country the havoc they created in Bangkok under the protection of the Rich E.E allies, they will be met with resistance,

Cheers

"Resistance" :-)

But I do agree with you. The red army has made it very clear to anyone that only one view is allowed in Thailand, especially in areas controlled and patrolled by them, and that anyone with a different view must be eradicated, as evidenced in this and many other attacks or "acts of resistance" if you prefer :-)

As weird as this post is, kikoman has a point. While the reds will accept anti-government demonstrations in the capital, they turn to violence when people in the provinces turn against them. This is a behavior they have shown earlier, although not as strongly as in this case. If the impression of massive support from the provinces vane, the whole concept of broad support for Thaksin will disappear. The cadres have to be kept in line, or else they must die. The great masters Pol Pot and Mao Zedong have shown how to do this. The reds of Thailand are just following their example.

Good understanding of the playbook these people operate off of. Red Terror. BTW, where is GK and his likes, who just yesterday were condemng many of us as unsophisticated and naive "McCarthyites?" Tell us again how Tida and her UDDers are "peaceful" and "reformed" communists who are the equivalent of social democrats in Thailand.

Whatever they were protesting politically, right or wrong, using grenades and bullets on them makes the attackers the uttermost cowards. Politics is and can only be done through vocal or written communication. That's why they were there, to have their say, or to support a voice. Violence has no alternatives and therefore it's completely OUT of context.

One of five severely injured persons in Trat attack seven-year-old child

TRAT: -- One of the five seriously-injured victims of Trat rally attack is a seven-year-old child who was hit by a grenade fragment at the head, a senior public health official said Sunday.

Doctor Anurak Amornphetsathaporn, director of the Emergency Public Health Office of the Public Health Ministry, said the child is now being treated at the Rayong Provincial Hospital.

So far, one girl has been killed and 34 others were injured in the attack.

Its amazing indeed now lets wait for the red supporters on Thai visa to claim it was self inflicted to gain sympathy and see how the UN rules on this one or that they remain silent and show their bias.

The grenade is of course unlikely to be lobbed by a protester... they are stupid but probably not that stupid. They have however made so many enemies over the last few months, its difficult to point the finger at any one group.

oh and The UN not "ruling" to your liking ? stop complaining and get to their office in bangkok and show your disapproval but blowing on your whistle for a few hours !

You continue to sink lower and lower. Possibly one of the vilest posters ever on TV.

4 dead and numerous injured an you are still churning out propaganda.

And you Mr toad are using the deaths to further the cause of you leader!!!

so don't try the moral high ground BS it will give you a nose bleed (figuratively speaking)

I don't have a leader, so that point is moot. Nice try though.

I also live in Trat, so this is particularly sickening.

this violence coming from the "Thai Kill Thai" ... oooops I mean "Thai Love Thai" followers

Close enough to the Cambodian border to have other explanations....possibly not Thai Kill Thai... What type of grenades? Check that and also check some shell casings. Not so improbably to cross quickly, do a job, and cross quickly out again.

People have the right to protest. To imply, as you do, they deserved to be attacked in this cowardly manner is nauseating. Edited by Bluespunk

The attack occurred at a marketplace. Some of the injured and killed were at a noodle stand in the marketplace. Thai media is reporting the 8 year old was killed by a "stray bullet".

What kind of idiot reporter says stray bullet as if there are possibly legitimate targets within the crowd?

Uh.... sorry to ruin your nonsense, but these were local Trat people rallying.

Thanks, though, for confirming that gross inaccuracies are frequently frothed by some TV experts.

So the people that do not follow the law and have directly caused this (these) tragic events/incidents have the unmitigated gall to carry on with this insanity, violence, and incitement of violence!!! Bunch o' flippin' hypocrites!!! And they are WELL PROTECTED to be able to shut down the country for this long......

Why would Cambodians cross the border (avoid a couple of Military road check points on the way) to drive to a small village in the province of Trat and kill aimlessly?

Are they being paid for that? And by whom?

Always ask: Qui bono? (Who profits from this?)

The purpose of this terrorist attack is very obvioulsy intimidation of the opposition. So who profits?

What context other than a murderous attack on an unarmed crowd of civilians is there?

Ummm first off Trat ISNT a northern province last time i was there, its East and if anything south east what attack is he talking about ? second how can he know every persons political bent in a whole province or even area ?

sloppy standard of reporting at best.

A report of people being attacked and killed for expressing the political viewpoint, and you want to comment on the quality of the reporting? Tell us again please " I'm not a red supporter but........"

You seem to follow the red handbook for inconvenient topics; spin, lie, change the subject or ignore.

yes he does but he is also cheering them on, he is all for the reds that do this sort of thing because it backs his personal bias. That in itself shows how low people can stoop when they let political preference cloud their judgement on what is and is not acceptable. Thailand is one country but the reds refuse to let anyone else have a personal views as to what it should be like, communism to the fore, do as we say or we will kill you.

We know who benefits if this attack brings a military coup a step closer.

You apparently have failed to recognise that mankind loses.

But that doesn't surprise me

You sound quite pleased this happened to the PDRC. You and your likes have some maladjusted thinking if you really believe this kind of violence is ok.

Just because they attacked someone who thinks and feels differently about politics doesnt make it ok to hurt them. Next you will be thinking its ok to kill someone if they dont follow the REDS.

If it is your way or no way then you are the beginnings of a Hitler regime.

My suggestion to kikoman and jollyman and other who feel this way is to seek emergency psycholigical medical treatment

Im sure the doctors can find a cure for RED BLINDNESS.

Hey hey easy there brutus ...

If you organise a protest that holds a city hostage to the dictatorial opinion of a tiny minority, strong arm and intimidate people just doing their jobs into closing their businesses, causing the financial ruin of hundreds of tourism businesses, stop people from exercising their RIGHT to vote, chasing away investors, threatening people with violence (poptart mercenaries ... yes they are mercenaries) and showing off about it, then you are going to make a lot of people angry and provoke an equally violent response .... and if you hang around people who do this, then you MUST expect exactly this kind of thing to happen ... its not a good thing at all, but you must expect it.

I say, if you kick a dog often enough then you have no right to complain when it bites you.

I regret terribly that children have been hurt, but in all honesty what kind of parent takes a child into such a potentially violent situation? If Suthep really cared he'd send them home, but the coward wants his human shields.

We are saying it is a vicious cowardly attack. Is that straight enough?

Meanwhile, we just had 4 days of hilarity from PDRC stage about jolly Popcorn Killers. Shows which side of the divide have the almost complete monopoly on common sense.

Men with guns, men in black, popcorn warriers are not what we need.

Crocodile tears going to be hard to find on stage for Suthep after his 4 days of sick taunts.

You sound almost 'chuffed to boots'. bah.gif
