benalibina Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 My sympathy goes to all concerned and hopefully she can enjoy a life with her parents resonably worryfree in the foreseeable future. 2
Boo Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 I wonder if her parents have tried linking her fb page to the LK facebook page. Literally hundreds of UK LK's on there & even if only a few donate it may work. it's called Luk Krung, Half thai 1
HeijoshinCool Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 I wonder if her parents have tried linking her fb page to the LK facebook page. Literally hundreds of UK LK's on there & even if only a few donate it may work. it's called Luk Krung, Half thai I don't believe so, and I've sent Nick Pugh an email suggesting the idea. Thanks very much!

HeijoshinCool Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 Nick tells me he tried to find a way to link the Luk Krung Facebook page with Tia's Facebook page, without success. Guys, the man's a bit overwhelmed right now, and I know nothing about Facebook. Can anyone help?
Boo Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 I can't link facebook from work but I see someone has put a post there already. when i get home I will link it for you.
nick pugh Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 Could you please send me the link to the page as the one I found only has a few followers on it. Sent from my iPhone using Thaivisa Connect Thailand
WitawatWatawit Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 Fingers crossed for you Nick and your gorgeous little girl. I have asked my daughter to go to the Red Cross when she can get time from work.
nick pugh Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 Thank you. I'm looking into doing registration drives in Thailand. Hopefully I will find out more today. Sent from my iPhone using Thaivisa Connect Thailand
WitawatWatawit Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 My daughter's blood type is B+. Does that help?
WitawatWatawit Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 My daughter has a lot of luk kleung friends and says she will post the details on her Facebook page. Is there any medical info you can give that will help?
Mario2008 Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 Some info about donating here: http://www.nhs.uk/conditions/Bone-marrow-donation/Pages/Introduction.aspx
nick pugh Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 It's not blood type it's HLA. I'm not completely sure myself as we will get the full information on 17th March from the Hospital. There's a lot of answers in Tia's page. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Tia-Pugh-immune-deficiency/249924451836434?ref=stream Sent from my iPhone using Thaivisa Connect Thailand
nick pugh Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 We are also looking into building a website for people to register and hopefully it will be in several languages. The NHS registry website isn't simple to use. This one is the easiest. http://www.deletebloodcancer.org.uk/ Sent from my iPhone using Thaivisa Connect Thailand 1
WitawatWatawit Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 Thanks Nick. When I asked for medical info, I wasn't sure what details might be needed - should have done my homework first, silly boy. Anyway, daughter is now checking the FB page and will link it to her friends. She knows many luk krung adults in Bangkok, and she will ask them to spread the word via FB. Your daughter is so cute. We will do our best to help.
nick pugh Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 Thank you. The best way is to scroll down on Tia's page and it gives you the option to invite friends as sharing doesn't seem to have the same effect. I am waiting for another important call today from select blood cancer as they carry out registrations. I'm hoping they will contact the registrars in Thailand for me so we can plan drives over their. Thank you for helping my family Sent from my iPhone using Thaivisa Connect Thailand 1

We will do our best to help. Blood type is not relevant in stem cell donation, only generally good health, and falling within the age criteria, which varies from registry to registry. The recipient's marrow is "killed off" and the donor's implanted. The recipients's blood type can even change after that. They match donors and recipients using HLA, a protein. This can be done by swabs or blood draws. In LOS, the Red Cross uses blood draws. If your daughter or any of her friends would like to help at any of the Donor Drives now being planned for Thailand, please have them PM me or Nick. We could use the help!

After I sent my earlier message, I went to the other thread which has a lot more info. This is the link for anyone who wants to read more about the issue (it contains a lot of useful links): http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/706072-this-half-thai-english-needs-desperate-help-please-share-and-tell-people-about-this/ Anyway, matey, PM on the way shortly.
