stament Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 We are thinking of going to a beach for a nice relaxing holiday for about 5 days starting from CM. It's likely to be the last week of July or the first week of August and I'm a little wary of the weather. I don't mind a bit of rain but I don't want it to rain all day for 5 days! As we are only going for 5 days we'd need to fly direct from CM so I'm guessing that means Krabi, Phuket or Samui? Is somewhere near Hat Yai a possibility? I'd be worried about safety there too. Would welcome people's comments on the best place to go taking into account weather and a really nice beach (ideally not too touristy) and nice accommodation. I'm putting this in the CM forum even though it's not strictly relevant as the trip starts from CM and a direct flight is essential. Many thanks
kilvingtono Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 Cape Panwa Hotel in Phuket. Private beach and good staff.
mamborobert Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 Firstly....not a direct flight...not long and you can book straight through with AirAsia. Give Penang a go. You leave here about 9:00 in the morning and have a brief stop over in KL (or you can stay a night). Very nice beaches, lots to do as well as chill out, many choices, something different to "Thai", great food/cuisine, security not an issue, far less scams, and weather is nice. And absolutely pushing and will wait for the hits.........nicer tourists/locals.
elektrified Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 Near Hat Yai is Koh Lipe. Also many nice beaches in Pattani. Safety? No danger whatsoever. Been many times. Phuket (unless you go to Cape Panwa as mentioned - I've never been but would like to.....) is a rat hole now compared to years ago, i.e. Patong, Karon, Kata, even Nai Yang now feels like you are at a Black Sea resort if you know what I mean. But July or August is bad timing! Right in the middle of the monsoon. There are many great beaches and islands to recommend but not in July or August!
