Did my retirement visa renewal today. I'm still having a hard time believing this, but I did time it. 8 minutes. From the time I entered the door till the I walked out. They handed me a number and it was immediately called.

But for once, I had everything they needed. So no need to run next door for a copy. Just need to go back after 3PM to pick it up.

I think I need to go buy a lottery ticket! 5555

My record is probably less than 5 minutes when I was straight to the desk with no one else waiting. The longest part was getting the number ticket.

Bloke said 1h bla bla

I said i will take my time and wait

Last year was at least 2 hours. The year before that pretty much the same time. Even 90 day reports a few years ago took a long time. Not now. A very nice change!

I think I remember seeing Raro there around 8am and he didn't get out till after lunch with his multi-entry.

I went with a voucher to Ripley's time machine and I went out 10 minutes before I came in tongue.png

Not on retirement yet, but hope they are getting more efficient for everything.

Retirement and 90 days now a doodle at Pattaya, but please tell me why they clump over stayers and Re-entry permits at the same desk? The only way is to turn up early(before 0800h) and sit for 2 hours while all the dregs of society get seen!

And by the way why do we need a re-entry permit if we already have a visa, the latter seems to work everywhere else in the world for entry and departure, or is it just another gravy train for Immigration Dept??

No.

Can somebody please give me an update on the current requirements for a Retirement Visa extension? Specifically:

I use an income verification statement from the American Embassy (which I'll obtain during the Consular visit at Dusit next Tuesday). Do I still need a letter from my bank when using this method, vs. the minimum balance option?

Last year, the requirement for a medical cert was dropped. Is that still the case?

Can you or anyone else confirm how long the letter can be used for...I've heard 3 months; is that the case at jomtien immigration?

And residence certs for buying/selling cars and stuff are only 15-20 mins too smile.png

... with a 200 or 300 baht "mandatory donation" for a free document...

Don't know if they're supposed to be free or not but if the fee is making it 15 mins instead of two hours or pick up next day I'm all for it. My embassy charges B1550 for an income letter so still quite the bargain.

Went there today, easy visa renewal.

BUT long queue for the re-entry permits! SONGKRAN. Get there before 9 or else you'll wait forever or have to start over the following day. I'm going to ground this year, so I'll just wait till after SONGKRAN to get the re-entry permit.

Place was mobbed. Felt sorry for the greeters & number assigners; be very nice to them! In just 10 min, watched them deal with several seniles, one of whom COULD NOT understand that his trip to Cambodia was a long time ago and he had overstayed. It was embarrassing for us farang.

It's not a bargain at all.

It should be free, that's why it's free at some immigration offices.

They are in fact, stealing off of everyone who needs proof of residency.

If you get a multiple re-entry permit, be sure to ask for the blue receipt at the Jomtien office.

Yes but that is for the notary service. It would probably be nothing if it didn't need to be notarized. Still not bad at all for all you get out of it for Americans!

Last June it took 10 minutes to process me & 1 hour to pick up my completed passport. I like the way they streamlined the yearly visit instead of waiting for 1-2 hours while they observe everything under the sun.

What is "the blue receipt" and why be sure to ask for it?

Answered in the Songkran FAQ thread here: http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/707843-2014-songkran-faq-long/page-4#entry7647159

Thanks, I have a feeling it will be a big crowd and nightmare at the immigration on April 11 so will try a day earlier.....

It's just your carbon copy of the cash receipt. Shows that the money actually went into the government accounts and not the immigration officers pockets.

Thanks for answering. I cannot remember if I received any receipt but I doubt I will lose sleep over it either way.
