going down under, where to change money to aus $

Featured Replies

should i change my baht to aus $ in a local bank, or the airport (phuket) or in Australia?

last time in Australia about 2 to 3 years ago 1AUD was worth approx 31 baht here

at perth airport 1 AUD bought 26 baht i do not know what the rate was in baht for a dollar there

Don't change in Australia. The exchange rate is not good, particularly at the airports.

Exchanging a currency like the Baht which cannot be considered a hard currency, you always get a very bad rate overseas. Only in the neighboring countries they will give a credible rate for Thai Baht.

Try the money changer (Dolthi?) next to Advice computer shop near the circle as you will get a slightly better rate than the banks or if you are in town go to NC just around the corner from Robinsons.

i don't know that one. i know the 'English computer man' shop near the circle, is that the one you mean?

there is a change place just opened up just outside the front door of the tesco/lotus rawai near the circle. i'll check the rate with them.

Definitely change here....commisions in Australia are robbery.

I understand you must have less than $10000 in currency when you enter Australia.

Seems as if they only want you to stay a week.

$10,000 is the limit that you don't need to declare. You can have more but you have to declare it and be able to show how you earned that money. These measure are in place to prevent money laundering.

Wonder if they apply that on the VIP casino flights.
