Can you recommend a clean hotel in KK around the 1000 baht a night range. I prefer new hotels that are clean and of high standard and dont mind paying a bit more if its available.

Where is the uni hospital located ie is it near the main cbd? Is this the best hospital in KK?

thanks

Just did check online prices for the Kosa and they come down just below 1000 Baht.

Seems to be offseason there, no meetings etc.

A bit oldfashioned but good value for money in my opinion.

I have no personal experience with the Sri Nakarin (Sri Nagarind) hospital.

Only know that it is THE place for complicated operations and has highly qualified doctors.

Difficult for Thais on "30 Baht care" to get treatment there. Month long waiting queues after referral by their local hospitals.

Strict priority handling for operations.

Don't know whether they have a priority queue for self paying foreigners ("private patients").

The private RAM did not impress me. Lots of bells and whistles and expensive.

The diagnostics of my wifes digestion problems was not more than interview and manual scanning followed by the big bag of pills.

Just like the village doctor, just 10 times the price.

I wanted to have an immunization (refresh) for tetanus.

Not on stock, has to be preordered.

Immunization level for Hepatitis was done, took quite a while and looked expensive to me too (don't remember the detail).

Hmm...

Their general checkup (labtests, X ray, ultrasound etc.) was OK for the price (in 2011).

The Kosa would be fine if you can get it for the desired price. As the previous poster says, a cheaper and smaller but clean alternative is the Khon Kaen Orchid, which is handy for the hospitals. I've stayed in both and they are very acceptable.

Srinakarin, the university hospital, is for most specialities the best equipped hospital in Isaan. It is a regional tertiary care centre with all the high-technology facilities that you would expect. If you go in as a paying patient I would guess that the style of treatment is also very acceptable, though you may have to wait for a private room. KK Ram offers better 'hotel services' and probably faster treatment, but it really cannot compare in terms of the sophistication of the clinical facilities on offer. Some doctors work in both. Srinakarin is just off the main Mittraphap Highway (Highway 2), on the edge of the KK university campus, just north of the turning to the airport (left side coming from Korat). The KK Ram is a bit south off Highway 2 nearer the KK Orchid Hotel.
