Another question would be how tall you are, just a variable to include. Some bikes such as the PCX have seats designed for Small people. I'm 6'4" & with my PCX require a custom seat. Also none of these will hold that much, might want to get a (big bike) motorcycle & purchase/install a couple large storage compartments for the rear. With the PCX, there's an option for a rear storage compartment.

Oz,

Sorry all about sidebar topic,

I am the same height as yourself. Actually an inch taller. I am looking at an upgrade from my wife's honda click 125cc to the PCX 150. While I know my frame warrants a much larger bike, I do not want a larger more powerful bike as am to prone to want to go fast and we all know what that leads to. Having stated the above, where, how did you get the custom seat made?? Did you get it through Honda??

help greatly appreciated.

Also, if someone can tell me how to ask private questions it would be greatly appreciated. That way I do not need to butt in on someone elses question. Again, greatly appreciated.

Top right of your screen, click on the "open Envelope", all will be revealed. smile.png

I bought mine in Udon Thani, drove all around & did find a seat replacement shop but not the PCX. I ended up removing the seat hump. Then made a Mickey-mouse seat cover to help reduce seat slide, using rubber floor pads and a girdle.

Do a 'Search' for "motorbike seats" & you'll come across my same question (for Bangkok). I've seen some great replacement seats on parked PCXs & even waited by them for a short time case the owner came back. As far as Honda, No, I asked when I bought my bike. They also won't offer any suggestions, that would be against policy.

Recommend finding the shop (visiting it) first before buying the bike, otherwise, either jump to Honda's 300cc electric bike (forgot the name) but I did fit in the sit, or go with a Click. Found all their other smaller bikes had very small seats - you could fit but never have room for a second passenger.

cant you buy half a box of beers? this might increase your options.

or maybe getting a house close to a shop?

joke aside, any flat board scooter is OK. i suggest honda sh150i. it has more room as built for Europe or if you want one size up, honda forza or maybe kawa releases j300 here.

one size down, it is yamaha fino, honda scoopy, honda zoomer x and honda click125.

check second hand prices as well, you might find really good deals.

I am surprised you didn't mentioned PCX. SH150 is a little big power that I wouldn't need and is more expensive.

I am not very tall, just 5' 9". I think PCX is build in Japan but not necessarily for Japanese. It is a global product.Large storage compartment is an advantage plus rear box.

Thank you for everyone who took time to help me to choose right scooter. In my opinion, what I gathered so far, Honda is the way to go. It is reliable and popular. Winner is PCX 125 (for me-I do not wish larger cc than 125), PCX has large storage. Next comes Click 125.I do not give up my Change beer (that is my taste) but I am not going to buy a carton and take risk of losing balance.Storage box for small shopping is an option.I will keep a n extra carton of large chang in my storage.

I am coming to Thailand with Non-O as I am married to Thai wife ( I managed to get 12 months multiple entry from Australia. Can I get it registered on my name?

bc pcx does not have a flat board. i only listed scooters with flat board as it makes a scooter much more practical. All scooters need to have flat board if you ask me.

Right. The flat floor design ensures maximum frame flexibility, which in combo with the unsprung mass makes them super dangerous, challenging, fun to ride on non-planar surfaces.

I recommend getting one with unilateral rear suspension and small diameter spoke wheels and cheap tires.

Really, the Yamaha Fiano is about the ultimate ride, especially for large farangs.

We first had a Click, not good handling, especially 2 up. Then an Airblade, much better ride, could really lay this one over on the bends, now have a PCX, different ball game, far more comfortable, wider tyres at the correct pressures help, plus big under seat storage. Fuel tank is down low, so most of the weight is low, just a nice bike/scooter. thumbsup.gif

When the PCX first came out, "Motorcycle news" did a test ride and the conclusion was that not only was the PCX the best scooter that Honda made, it was probably one of the best bikes they made......

Ours is now 5 years old. Still rides like new, the Mrs loves it. I would/could make one criticism and that is it doesn't have a kick start, so means battery must be kept in good order. We still have the original battery. whistling.gif

Madam left the ignition on over night once rolleyes.gif and the battery went flat, I re-charged it and it's been OK ever since, that was a couple of years ago.

For you tall PCX guys, there is stuff out there............

attachicon.gifPCXs.jpg.....smile.png

I notice the seat mod, really easy and cheap around here in Khon Kaen, better than the original in terms of finish IMO, did you extend the bars too? If so where and how much.

Got my interest now, although no a great scooter fan, still they can be made to look groovy.

But I won't be in Thailand until 18 April.

I do not have motorcycle license but I am coming with IDL and my Aussie License.I beleieve I need to apply to get motorcycle license in Thailand. Can you tell me what I need to do?

You mean gasohol 91, not 95. Also, the latest model is 125cc, not 113.

The battery is still going strong. The nice thing about the PCX is, press the start button it starts instantly, noooo cranking over, no noise, same as the engine off mode in traffic, open the throttle and it goes, instantly. Very clever stuff. thumbsup.gif

PS. Has a built in alarm too, and works.

Wrong!

The latest Filano has the same engine as the new Fino, TTX or Mio 115i.

It's the new 115 cc Diasil engine with fuel injection. (very good engine by the way)

And why shouldn't he run the bike on 95?

Many bikes running/starting better on 95 than 91.

You are correct on the displacement, I was fooled by some youtube videos.

Regarding fuel, the engine is designed and labelled to use gashol 91. On such a low compression, low performance, small engine there is no benefit using 95 octane fuel.

Yes, the newer ones are designed for gasohol 91. (Nobody can sell a small bike which NEEDS the "expensive" 95 in TH)

And the fuel-injected bikes are easy to start, so or so.

So no real need for 95.

But some older Bikes with carb are far better to start on 95 and running smoother too.

(Own experiences)

*Might* be caused by another mixture between 91 and 95.

However...back to the topic smile.png
