I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium and the Chrome browser.

In navigating between certain pages on eBay this morning it sometimes freezes and I get the message: "Script on the page used too much memory. Reload to enable scripts again." or in some cases links become inactive and the warning comes up: "You must have Java Script enabled to use My eBay."

This seems to be only happening on eBay and this is the first time I've encountered the problem. I checked and Java Script has not been disabled.

Can I assume this is an eBay problem and something they need to deal with or something to do with Chrome settings or possible malware or ???

Thanks in anticipation.

I use Chrome all the time to surf Ebay...was on it just last night...no problems.

Yes, I use it all the time too and never had this problem before. First appeared this morning when I tried to raise a bid on something from the bid/offer page. Just tried again a minute ago and got this again, see below.

If I open the separate item first I can place a bid, but not on the bid/offer page.

Last night when I shut down the computer there was an automated MS update. Not sure if that could have caused something to change. I suppose I can check for a system restore point to see if that changes anything, but the only place I've encountered this was on eBay so I may wait. I sent a technical error report to eBay, maybe they have a suggestion.

There was a Chrome update just the other day, make sure it applied, or go to Menu, About Google Chrome and it will do it for you.

I think they were fixing the Flash vulnerability.

Thinking of it, it might even be down to the update....

Nope, just went to Ebay, logged on, surfed around a little, looked at my Lists, etc....no problem.

Took a look at my current version of Chrome and it says "Version 33.0.1750.154 m"

I just checked. It shows I'm using the latest version.

Will have to see if it persists. I also reported this as "an issue" to Google. Maybe eBay or Google will respond with some way to deal with it.

The only place I consistently get that message shown in the photo is when I go to the Bid/Offer page where I have two items I've already bid on. If I click on the "increase bid" that's when the page freezes and eventually produces the message about memory.

One time I got a message about needing Java. I reinstalled Java and haven't seen that message again, but the one about scripts and memory keeps coming back.

So I sent a tech issue report to eBay detailing what happened when I clicked on "increase max bid" using Chrome and that when I used my iPod the page froze too after clicking on that link.

Got a somewhat patronizing reply explaining in detail what to check for on my IE browser.

I guess it's nice that eBay continues to find employment for those with no discernible, employable skills.

Out of curiosity I did give my incredibly slow IE browser a try and got the message: "ebay. com is not responding due to a long-running script."
