Election Commission ready for new general election

Sure the PDRC will agree to allow new elections. NOT!! They are already spouting to block new elections without reform first.

With the pending cases against the PTP and YL it is doubtful their names will remain in any ballot. But since YL has already been in the north vying voters for the PTP i am sure another patsy would run with the PTP approval.

The courts need to abolish these so called Democratic parties and their families. So holding any new elections will surely be another waste of time and money. They need an elected leader. But the parties involved are all crooked so nothing changes

Actually, I think you are very wrong here.

The PDRC will definitely allow new elections. You fail to read 'between the lines' which is an essentially required skill when debating Thai politics.

The PDRC threat to disrupt a future election before reforms is a very strategic announcement. It sends out a message to Yingluck not to bully the EC in yet another snap election, by threatening to send it the same way as the last one.

They are demanding full national reforms, but of course with negotiations that would certainly be reduced to 'electoral reforms'. Why?... because they know that in a free and fair election, the Dems would stroll in based on the massive amount of voters that the PTP have lost (8 million almost).

The Dems will have a manifesto based on the national reforms which actually have many points that will extremely enhance the quality of politics and fairness for the entire country including the PTP stronghold, while the PTP won't be allowed to use their old tactics of 2011 to gain support. They will have to rely on nothing other than intelligent agendas, which will probably be laughed at nationwide seeing as ALL their past policies failed spectacularly with possible a trillion baht disappearing.

The EC will get the two side together, and do not be surprised if the PDRC downgrade their demands and settle for election overhaul to make them free of corruption. The ball will be in the PTP court to show their hand on whether they support or oppose free and fair elections. A tricky situation for them.

The Dems may even say that they will contest and if they win, oversee reforms and then dissolve parliament in two years time and hold fresh elections. I can't see the country rejecting that, and at least the reforms will be devoid of any involvement of Thaksin and the Shinawatra clan.

Suthep has played a very canny hand indeed.

Electoral reforms can be done in a week or two and the elections can still be held within the 60 days after.

Said basically the same myself in another thread

but their are many here that do not like logical talking

Trolling is much more to their liking

you talk about trolling then post 6 times consecutively? BTW no one cares about what your 'wife' says about airports - a typical moronic reaction to anyone who dares have an opinion

You say that both perties are corrupt, yet you fail to see that one of the parties are pushing for reforms before elections that will do away with corruption. While the other party has clearly stated it wants elections before the elections are made free and fair.

So what does that tell you?..... both parties are corrupt?

Surely not.

Alongkorn Ponlabut, former Deputy Leader of the Democrat Party whose attempts to reform his own Party were rejected before their decision to stop contesting elections, said in a TV interview on 31 May 2013:

For the last election, it may be because we actually used more [money] than them.

Yes, all major parties spend money, but the research shows that very little of it is in the form of vote-buying in the sense of paying someone to vote in a way that they would not do without the bribe. A 2011 poll by NIDA (which strongly supports the Suthep-led protests) found that only 4.1% of voters would take money to vote in a certain way. And there is no evidence to show that Pheu Thai are responsible for the bulk of this activity, nor that the Democrats never indulge (there is strong evidence of an unsuccessful attempt by the Democrats to buy votes in Bangkhen in 2011).

To argue that Thai governments can be elected on the strength of vote-buying is 'dangerous nonsense', as Pasuk and Baker put it.

Thai elections are bought and Thaksin is the world's most corrupt person - ever.

Your post firmly eliminates one of the two falsities underpinning the current undemocratic criminals and their activities.

Expect it to be ignored by ThaiVisa Team Yellow

BTW - common sense eliminates the second falsity, but they lack that too.

Thailand will not become more democratic after an election no matter who "wins".

What is primarily needed in this country are functioning and non corrupt government, public institutions and leaders (The police is only one of these institutions.). This must be achieved through cooperation between parliamentary parties. To arbitrary and disrespectful govern the country and use its position as the largest party belongs to an ancient and primitive time in history.

Learn from other countries that have made more progress in their democratic development!

PS Why do so many of you posting here, no matter what side you are on, be so single-minded and hateful? You who should feel guilty here - are you really democrats?

The EC were not able to organize safe venues to register candidates for the last election why would

anyone think these incompetent buffoons are able to do a better job for the next election.

Replace theses guys and move on.

I suppose they could bring the army in to protect the registration location and escort anyone that wanted to register then protect the polling locations during the election.

Maybe ever declare martial law during the next two or three months to make sure all parties can campaign in all provinces.

At least someone on this forum has posted a sensible and balanced view of the political situationj instead of the pathetic childish rants of red shirt/PTP supporters

Oh, the irony.
