Yingluck encounters whistle blowers at landfill fire scene

3-24-2014-10-35-03-PM-wpcf_728x413.jpg

BANGKOK: -- Three whistle blowers gave acting Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra a loud shout and whistle sound when she arrived at Phraekasa landfill site in Samut Prakan to inspect the fire situation Monday.

But they could not make closer to the acting prime minister when she arrived as her body guards and security officials intercepted them, two men and a woman from coming near.

They just shouted and blew whistle at her, and calling her to show responsibility over several cases which she and her caretaker government had done wrong.

Earlier before making a landing, PM Yingluck flew in a helicopter to personally view the damage of a fire that broke out at the Phraekasa landfill fire scene which still spews plumes of toxic smoke into the atmosphere.

Although the fire has been put out, there remain some plumes of toxic smoke emanating from the site.

Thus far 1,144 persons have had to receive treatment from the toxic fumes at the Phraekasa local administration medical facilities while another 417 persons are being treated at the Wat Phraekasa temple medical center. One soldier who was part of the fire-fighting force was also injured when he fell into one of the garbage dumps at the site.

The PM stated after the visit that she was satisfied with the fire-fighting efforts and was even seen without a sanitary mask over her mouth in order to reassure the public that there was no residual danger from the fumes except for some remaining unpleasant odor. Finally, she ordered that all care and aid possible be given to those who were affected by the fire.

Expect next that the whistle blowers families’ homes will be bombed or sprayed with machine gun fire.

"....landfill fire scene which still spews plumes of toxic smoke into the atmosphere...."

"The PM stated ..... to reassure the public that there was no residual danger from the fumes except for some remaining unpleasant odor. "

Well that's reassuring.

The state must be in good condition as she has time for this. There is obviously nothing more important to attend to.

She must have a break from visiting OTOP fairs in the north / north east.

Seems that torn ligament has healed already. Miracle Thailand.

"...and was even seen without a sanitary mask over her mouth in order to reassure the public that there was no residual danger from the fumes except for some remaining unpleasant odor."

What a brave act!

And has the good caretaker PM also told the public that wearing a sanitary mask is absolutely useless to protect from toxic fumes?

Sanitary masks as designed to prevent the wearer from breathing OUT germs, but not to prevent the wearer from breathing IN potentially toxic gases.

Yingluck needs to take Tarit with her everywhere she goes so he can immediately arrest these whistle blowing, lawbreaking villian criminals. Just grab his leash and pull him along. I wonder if there is an arrest warrant out for Plodpropellor.

From The Nation article Nov 19, 2013:

Plodprasop pointed at the protesters and used his personal whistle to blow back at them before entering the gymnasium and attending the public hearing.

Upon hearing these words, Yingluck's thoughts inevitably turned to her brother. She couldn't shake the feeling that this whole tragic dump-fire is a metaphor for something.

They want a corruption free, democratic government. Yes that is immature, with some education they would know that it is hopeless....such a thing doesn't exist anywhere worldwide.

Only naive characters dream of such things. Mature one try to get their own share from the corruption.

That is what you want to tell, or?

And I must admit you might be right.

Perhaps the most intelligent sound to ever pass through his lips.

She start wailing yet ? The fumes should help to get a few drops out.

Aren't you one of the people who laments the fact that the PM doesn't visit the south? And now you take a romp in the gutter to offer the comment that she " obviously has nothing more important to attend to".

The fire was a major catastrophe. Thousands have been affected and thousands are worried. In the real world, this qualifies as a serious event. The PM came in her capacity as PM to reassure the public and to offer support. That's what a PM is supposed to do. You may not think this important, but the thousands of local residents, with the exception of 3 idiots blowing whistles, probably do as well. You would be the first to criticize her if she attended a cabinet meeting and didn't visit. Your hatred blinds you, and it's a sorry indictment of your mindset.

Millions were affected by the rice scheme disaster, hundreds are killed deep south every year, children are being massacred in front of their parents, a separatist movement threatens to destroy the country, hundreds of billions of taxpayers money lost threatening the economy of the nation, the list can go on and on but what is Yingluck input in solving this problems? Oh I'm sure she will attend to them if there is no other otop fair to go to.

You have me mixed up with another person, another mindset, and another emotion. I have never lamented that YL doesn't visit the South, AND I don't have hatred towards her ("hatred" and "disdainful contempt" are not the same thing).

well, visiting a garbage site she thought she was back in parliament with her PTP friends being productive.

Their country, their right to protest.

Sillier comments than normal.

What possible good comes out of Poo visiting, surrounded by bodyguards, and then issuing a few commands, like "please do your jobs". She might consider doing hers. What next, a few free sanitary masks with Thaksin's face on to show he cares, like the food parcels in the last floods?

She should be helping lead the country out of the incredible mess her family of created. But no, photo opps are much better, and she go show off her wonderful fast recovery from the torn ligament that put her in a wheel chair last week.

Offer her support - only if there's a profit in it.

Well, what do you think they should do instead? Beat people up? Shoot someone? Fire a grenade? Leave a bomb somewhere?

I'd say that whistle-blowing is a reasonably civilized way to protest.

Kid... this is not the south.. its just below BKK.

As for what she has done.. I will wait for what happens to the people who are responsible for this dump. If nothing happens it shows how effective YL is because she is personally supervising it.

Was it not because someone in her famly owns that Dump... and now it is Up in Smoke... same as her Amnesty Bill / 2.2trillion baht Loan..etc etc . Rock on Yinluck you will go down in History .. but as long as you go down , Thailand will survive..w00t.gif

Before reading the article and only reading the headlines I thought the whistle blowers were there to point out who was to blame for the fire. Silly me

How dare she do her job & show concern for issues affecting Thais.

May I ask what good Mark Abhisit has been doing recently. He prefers to lurk in the shadows waiting for another chance to pounce on illegitimate power.

Where's the wheelchair ? In terms of the whistle blowing, there always seems to be repercussions for that, so we're now bracing ourselves for the violent UDD reaction to peaceful expression.

She is only showing her face. For the gullible that might seem as if she knows what she is doing.

Their country, their right to protest.

There is a time and a place for protests.

One group that shares your sentiment is Fred Phelps (now deceased) and his Westboro Church who believe it is alright to stand outside funerals and harass the mourners as a protest about US society. They too have a right to protest.

He in question is attending court on trumped up charges as requested to do.

UNLIKE the SHINS who think they are above the law, so they have no need to attend.

Anyone who attains power after this fiasco, has years of rebuilding, I cannot see the PM doing that because they have blatantly demolished Thailands wealth.

To answer in a nutshell had she done her job in the last 2 years we would not be in this mess.

On topic if the funds that were given to local authorities were not abused the landfill site wouldn't be in this state--all rubbish sorted for recycling not Dumped.

Correct. If you blow a whistle at the ex-wife of a convicted criminal your house will be attacked with war weapons and the DSI will investigate who blew the whistle and summon the people.

A monk gets beaten up by red thugs and nothing will happen.
