If possible avoid highway 12 east of Phitsunalok over 100k of road construction, I just drove this route in a car last week and it is a mess. If you do need to go this way try and avoid the weekend as there is typically more traffic

not sure where you are heading to, you cannot but you can take Highway 101 from Sukhotai to north - which is a great twisty road.

Highway 12 is a East West route from Tak to locations East of Khon Kaen the construction work starts about 20k outside Phitsanulok and goes about 100k east the construction stops before the National Park with the Elephant warning signs. This will be a beautiful highway when it is finished but now it is a bit dangerous with sheer drop offs of 20 to 30 feet next to the road. They are also cutting back the mountains on the south side of the road thru one section. If you can find an alternative route and avoid this area it would be adviasble

Always avoid north-bound roads heading east !!!
