Recommendations for motorcycle rentals next to the airport?

Featured Replies

Any legit places to get a motorcycle right outside the airport?

Don't want to leave my passport with them and they need to accept an American driver's license with a motorcycle endorsement on it.

There was a rental place that someone recommended that does pick up and drop offs but their site specifically says they don't pick up from the airport...

" An updated comment about metered taxis. I have just come back from Phuket Jan 2013. The taxis are very expensive by Thai standards about 8-10 times what you pay in Bangkok. The so called metered cabs (PMC) at the airport only use the meter for long distances, and the meters are at a much higher rate than elsewhere in Thailand. The minimum charge to go anywhere seems to be 500 baht, and staff refuse to discuss why they wouldn't use the meter. Going to say Karon/Kata would have to cost around 1200 baht one way now. For a return trip from Mai Khao to the boat Lagoon it was 1800 baht. And 1200 baht to go to Nai Yang return. Phuket transportation costs are fast becoming prohibitive to traveling there. I would take a hotel transfer, or the fixed priced cabs over the metered cabs, as they are an unpleasant experience on most occasions from experience. I have been living in Thailand for 3 years now and costs in Phuket are increasing a lot faster than the rest of Thailand, and the cabs prices are really prohibitive given they are 8-10 times the rest of the country.

Minivan to your destination - then rent a bike, if you are an experienced rider in Thailand, without leaving your passport.

There was a question a few months ago about renting a bike at the airport. Don't remember a positive answer. Simon is one of our members who has a business near the airport. Let's hope he reads this and responds.

I don't have a business to rent motobikes, but my hotel uses an ouside company near the airport who can rent you a bike.

Drop me a PM and I can give you these details.

Simon
