Get over it lads, fact is, English is spoken all over the world in many different ways, Why?... well figure that one out for yourselves. The variation in accent in England alone is huge so I believe its good for children to have different teachers from English speaking countries all over the world......ja get me???

In Thailand, officials have great leeway interpreting the rules. In some cases, this is to increase their income opportunities, but not always.

However, once a ruling has been made, it almost never is reversed, especially for a farang - unless he/she is very well connected. In which case, he/she wouldn't be teaching English.

So if you want the job, I suggest you just suck it up, take the TOEIC test which is easy, and get the job. Otherwise, look elsewhere. If you keep putting the school between you and the MOE, they will get tired and set you loose. Let's face it, they need good relations with the MOE more than they need you. English teachers are simply commodities in this country, so one is as good as another provided they meet minimum standards.

Good luck.

A year or two ago, Irish people were classed as non native speakers for a period of about 6 months and were required to take a TOEIC test. The mistake was then realized and rectified. The Irish are once again classed as native English speakers and don't need to take the TOEIC test. Whoever told you to take it is working from old info.

They said they are not the teaching council and that they needed a score from me.

What we have here is an idiot who has lost face by being shown up by a farang.

Go over his head. Try again.
