One dead in East Pattaya Railroad crash

PATTAYA: -- Two vehicles were involved in a crash on the Railroad running along the Eastern side of Pattaya on Monday evening which resulted in the death of a 30 year old man.

The crash involved a Mitsubishi Lancer, driven by Khun Tanat aged 65 and a Toyota Vigo pick-up driven by Khun Prajuab aged 61.

The Vigo drivers son, Khun Apiwat was killed in the crash and the dead man’s girlfriend aged 18 was sent to Hospital and currently remains in a serious condition. Both were sitting on the back of the truck when the crash occurred.

Khun Apiwat was thrown from the vehicle and collided head-first into a street pylon, his Girlfriend missed the pylon and was thrown onto a grass verge.

The only surorise is that this doesn't happen for more often.

Is it just me but when I read the headline I assumed there was going to be a train involved?.

I'm starting to become immune to these stories and seeing vehicles in the ditch in the middle or sides of the road, it's a daily occurrence now.

One more good reason to have a CAM on your dash... just so you can't be charged for manslaughter when the CAM shows the <Deleted> idiot not using his or her directional indicators and changing lanes right in front of you at speed.

Or... perhaps... a myriad of other behaviors which one witnesses regularly and at a high rate of frequency when operating any kind of vehicle on or near these reprehensible roads, sois, and freeways.

Or... perhaps,,, the police got it right.

But we'll never ever know, will we.

Poetic moral of the story? ...get a CAM on your dash to avoid the police on your ass.

I read the story as a tragic accident resulting in the death of one person and injuries to another. Poetic moralism is the last thing on my agenda and pales in comparison to the lack of compassion in the post.

It is easy to take the moral and superior high ground, particularly when one has no relationship to the victims or first hand knowledge of the cause.

Lived in E. Pattaya...beyond the Railroad crossing...it was almost always an intense experience trying to get across this area on Soi Khao Talo...or any of the other Sois close by...usual Thai disregard for any semblance of order...a first come...first served...chaos was the norm...feel fortunate to have survived the daily ordeal...
