Sausage and mash!

Featured Replies

Thai food is nice but is not filling. I'm not fat. I was in BKK the other day and had sausage and mash, gravy and peas. There was no haggis, neaps and tatties on the menu.

If you live in the sticks what food do you miss?

the option of a pizza delivery?

every 1-2 week a trip to Khon Kaen ( 65km from us) and i can buy the not too common ingredients for whatever i desire to cook....cheese, bacon, sour cream, whipping cream, etc.

there is no farang food around on our sticks, but i can cook, so, not really a problem. anyway, i dont much trust a thai making my european food, just as my cooking talent doesnt include pad thai for example.

Like tingtong I live about 65 km from the nearest proper supermarket, in my case I go to Khampaeng Phet.

I make my own bacon, sausages, ham, bread, cakes, biscuits etc but some stuff is not available in KPP so I either get my mate who lives in Ban Lamung to get it for me when he goes shopping in Pattaya or perhaps get stuff in BKK on my yearly visit. Phitsanulok is OK buy it is a 360 km round trip.

Living in rural Thailand you learn to adapt, to make your own or live without it.

I haven't eaten rhubarb for years and I saw some in Villa in BKK and nearly had a heart attack at the 400 baht a kilo price.

I live in Pattaya ,so i can eat anything i fancy ,biggrin.pngbiggrin.pngbiggrin.pngbiggrin.pngsmile.pngtongue.pngthumbsup.gif
