Featured Replies

Several days ago i had the chance of going on a friends new boat cruising along the river near central Bangkok.I ask my freind do you need a boat licence he replied yes and then asked do you have lights for night cruising he said yes sure.Cutting to the chase after it got dark i saw many locals paddling in small boats and those fast long boats cruising at speed with No lights on at all.The whole time we were out on the water i never saw one Police Boat Patroling the busy water way ....Zip

My questions is. Does Bangkok have a full time water police service?

If so when do they opperate AM/ PM Number 3 what rules if any do they enforce when on the job ?

Or is it like most things in Thailand if its an official event you see the best of every thing but normal non official days......Zip

I have seen them near Taksin Pier in the mornings - usually floating around monitoring traffic. They have a red zodiac.

I guess the rest of the time they are out collecting fees?

It could be they work the waterways between Thailand and Myanmar...helping folks find their way...

I have been eating in restaurants at the riverside many nights and also noticed the vessels without any light. There are loads of them. I guess it is to much work to use the lights and Thai don't make accidents because they can see pretty well in the dark, also on motorbikes.facepalm.gif
