Alcohol wont be served on flights soon......sad.png

True Weegee.

I've heard under shariah law alcohol isn't served from Australia to Indonesia already on Air Asia.

I think it's a case of limiting how much passengers are served, then there's always those who pour their own drinks.

That's going to be tough for the pilots on some of these airlines.......................tongue.png

about 20 years ago I was having a drink at the small bar in the airport at Da Nang waiting for a flight to Hanoi. Two Vietnamese pilots also enjoying a couple of Johnnie Walker's there as well. Fair enough, drink at the end of the day I thought. Halfway through the flight you can guess who came out of the cockpit to take a pee.

I read what you say, but find it difficult to believe. I've known some hard drinking pilots, but never any who don't take their responsibility to be alcohol free very seriously. Could it have been a mistake....after all, all Asians look the same??

It seems the Virgin incident was just (another) drunk Australian yobbo tradie, a plumber from Brisbane, who tried to access the flight deck because he wanted to recover some medication from his (check in) baggage?? We can't legislate against low IQ's unfortunately.

The cabin crew may have been partly to blame for continuing to serve alcohol to him, or he may have been drinking his own duty free (an offence in itself), or he may have erupted when refused more booze??

Hopefully he'll have some time in Kerobokan to reflect on his stupidity, on a public nuisance charge at best, and hijacking at worst. Perhaps from the public's point of view, it may be better if at best it's a hijacking charge, and at worst a public nuisance charge?

My old man had a saying......some/many people shouldn't be permitted out without bells around their necks to warn the rest of us that they are on the loose. This guy is one of those.

Virgin plane hijacked en route to Bali

Monumental cock-up. Perp thought it was a plane full of virgins.

Maybe.

One of the great oxymorons is a Virgin hostie!! May even be a pun in there?

Indo is not an Islamic State and criminal code is not based upon Sharia Law. However, upon granting autonomy Sharia Law has been implemented in Aceh. Unless its recently changed, have flown Oz to Indo with AirAsia & no ban on serving of alcohol

bogan types head to bali ..........

True but mainly Australians, most bogans in the UK cant afford or don't wish to go there.

Some, but not all, and to say 'bogan types head to Bali' implies all. That's offensive.

I've traveled the world, and Bali is still high on my list of favorite destinations. Sure, a lot of bogan types congregate on the southern coastal strip from Kuta to Seminyak, but get half an hour off the southern beach strip, and it's a great place to visit, superb food, very different culture, beautiful architecture, and enormous natural beauty.

This thread is a great example where it should be possible to amend the title once other facts emerge.

'Drunk on Virgin Bali flight attempts to enter cockpit' becomes a far more accurate title.

But why let the truth get in the way of a (good?)story?

I noticed this 'headline' in the story, but couldn't find anything more in the body of the article

NEAR MISS: JETSTAR, SINGAPORE AIRLINES COME WITHIN 305M

So? 305 metres (1000 feet) is normal vertical separation, and it wouldn't have been horizontal separation because TCAS (Traffic Collision and Avoidance System) would have commanded pilot input long before it reached 305 meters. Once again, why let the truth, etc.
