Thai pavilion for 2015 World's Fair revealed (PHOTOS)

BANGKOK: -- When the World's Fair opens in Milan next year, one can find Thailand's pavilion by looking for the giant ngob.

The iconic Lanna-style hat was the inspiration for the pavilion, the design for which by The Office of Bangkok Architects has been selected for the 2015 World's Fair in Milan, Italy.

To reflect the exposition's theme of “Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life,” the firm incorporated the hat often associated with Thai farmers as well as aquatic elements.

A canal will run beside the pavilion, which will also include Naga imagery and a rice-field spanning walkway for visitors to cross. [read more...]

Don't think I have ever seen the hat. What I have seen is all the ninja farmers trying to cover every exposed centimeter of skin from the sun. w00t.gif

Maybe they could pass the big hat around to collect money for the farmers?

Looks very impressive. Job well done to all involved at the Office of Bangkok Architects. If any of you happen to stumble upon this forum please ignore all the usual TVF members negative comments.

It should look good, it is built with Italian workers to EU specs not Thai workers to no specs.

This isn't Thailand.

In Italy Thai workers will be allowed to build their own pavilion, with the expected results of course.
