PHUKET: -- Using a tip-off from recently arrested bag-snatchers, police raided a Phuket pharmacy on Tuesday evening, seizing more than 10,000 pills of drugs being sold illicitly.

Among the pills were sex aids, antidepressants, steroids and the notorious "date rape" drug Rohypnol.

“Four bag-snatchers told us they planned to buy Zolam at a pharmacy in Patong,” said Patong Police Deputy Superintendent Khunnadet Nanongkhai.

“So we sent undercover officers, and they were able to buy 10 Zolam pills.”

After the purchase, the officers identified themselves and arrested Rawiwong Keeratiakarapong, 46, charging him with the sale of Category 2 psychotropic substances, controlled drugs and dangerous drugs without permission.

Police also charged the pharmacist, Kitiya Niwetworachai, for not being at the shop while it was in operation.

Police seized the pharmacy log book, 1,900 packs of Kamagra oral jelly, 112 pills of Kamagra, 84 Viagra pills, a total of 2,055 pills of Alprazolam, Valium and Rohypnol, and 8,088 steroid pills.

Officers declined to name the shop as their investigation has not yet concluded.

“We need to find out whether the owner is also involved. We have called him in for questioning,” said Lt Col Khunnadet.

Mr Rawiwong faces up to five years in prison, a 50,000-baht fine or both. Pharmacist Ms Kitiya was fined 5,000 baht.

I'm not a native English speaker and sometimes fail to understand the nuances of the language.

I always thought that snitching has an very negative ring to the expression. For me using the word "snitch" tells the message that the person should not have acted like a rat and tell the authorities about the date rape drug seller.

Hopefully someone could correct me and my inability to understand the title correctly.

A snitch, a rat, a cheese, is someone who tells someone other than the person he/she refers to, about doing something wrong or right.

In this case, the bag snatchers told the police about where to buy the drugs from. They snitched on the pharmacy. coffee1.gif

Additionally, a "snitch" is typically someone who has legal troubles for their own illicit activities and provides information about another lawbreaker to law enforcement in an effort to lessen the charges against themselves.

Someone who simply reports a crime is not considered a "snitch".

I hope they can shut down this chemist. I bought some Kamagra Gel from the Foodland Pharmacy near Soi 5 Sukhumvit and it resulted in a very life-threatening poisoning. I thought by avoiding the street vendors I would be getting quality but the pharmacists at Foodland were dealing in the same garbage.

Pharmacist Ms Kitiya was fined 5,000 baht.

A pharmacist gets paid 10,000 Baht per month to have their name on the license on Phuket. That was 4-5 years ago, could be more now.

Certainly is a 'snitch' as far as the pharmacist is concerned.....whistling.gif

Since when is Kamagra brand sildenafil illegal here? You can get it at most pharmacies, and it's quite safe, and effective.

The illegal stuff are the pirated "bathtub" fske products marketed as being authentic.

I know...hard to imagine such counterfeit products exist in LOS.

And its not all "safe & effective". You have just been fortunate.
