Teaching job for Thai native?

Featured Replies

I'm trying to help my girlfriend find a teaching job in Chiang Mai. She has a bachelor's degree in English from CM Rajabhat (great speaking/reading/writing skills) and she has 2+ years teaching experience. Very kind personality, and reliable/hard-working. Her last jobs were live-in at the school (so working all day every day,).

After my advice she recently moved here from Mae Hong Son. I thought with her education and teaching experience she'd have no problem finding a job. But after 1 week, no luck. sad.png The big problem is, she doesn't seem to want to just go to many schools and ask. She feels she will be "embarrassed" and have "shame" if she asks and they say "no, sorry", they don't have a position. So ridiculous... I'm trying to convince her, but it's difficult. This loss of face thing can be frustrating, and she's lived a very sheltered life in Mae Hong Son, her previous jobs coming from help from the director there. So she's only asking at places that have posted an ad online, which are only 1 or 2 schools.

Anyway, I'm trying to help her out. If anyone has any suggestions or leads on schools hiring, it'd be very much appreciated.

Thanks.

I suggest that instead of applying to ads, she post her own resume on all the local internet sites. Even if she gives private lessons for a little while it's a start, and in the meantime she can continue to check the teaching jobs sites. ;)
