as a former admirer of the school of pink dolphins that used to populate this bay - one of only half a dozen or so such schools in all of asia - i lament what has happened to this once deserted beach ... and all in the name of profit.

but then, tourism is an ugly industry from a conservationist's point of view, and those of us who visit these beaches when they are still pristine are just as much to blame as the developers - though we may not profit from it in the same way as they, if it wasn't for our existence, the developers wouldn't put their properties there to cater to us. so explorer tourists ultimately have as much to answer for as the package ones that we do our damnedest to avoid.
