The King and Queen of Sweden and the Crown Prince of Bhutan will visit Phuket this week

King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Sylvia of Sweden and Crown Prince Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck of Bhutan will make their personal visits to the island resort of Phuket this week.

Phuket governor Udomsak Assawarangkun (อุดมศักดิ์ อัศวรางกูร) said the King and Queen of Sweden will arrive in Phuket today. While there, they will tour Phang Nga Bay and visit Ban Nam Khem (บ้านน้ำเค็ม) in Phang Nga’s Ta Kua Pa (ตะกั่วป่า) district to follow up on relief projects for tsunami victims.

They will leave Phuket for Bangkok on June 20 and will have an audience with Their Majesties the King and Queen before returning to Sweden on the same day, Mr. Udomsak said.

The Crown Prince of Bhutan, meanwhile, will make a three-day visit to Phuket between June 16 and 18. Mr. Udomsak said he likes sports and is interested in activities concerning youth and environmental development.
