EU election: France's Hollande calls for reform of 'remote' EU

PARIS: -- French President Francois Hollande has said the EU must reform and scale back its power, amid a surge in support for Eurosceptic and far-right parties.

Mr Hollande, whose party was beaten by the far right in last week's European Parliament election, said the EU had become too complex and remote.

Both he and German Chancellor Angela Merkel have said the focus should now be on boosting the economy.

The three big pro-EU centrist blocs are still on course for a majority.

Just because a minority of women are forced into prostitution, it's not a reason to ban it nor to impose fines on customers - what about reinforcing the police instead to catch the pimps?

Although - "forced prostitution" is understood differently by French leftists - a person who does not earn enough money is therefore "forced" into prostitution because of the economy, they should not have to prostitute themselves, instead the government should provide for them and impose more taxes on the ever-shrinking part of the population that is still working and paying taxes. I'm not making that up, thousands of token government "jobs" have been created for the resocialization of former prostitutes.

What they did about prostitution illustrates perfectly the disgusting stance of French leftists. For them, any poor person is a victim, regardless if the person wants to work or not, and these persons have to be helped, if necessary against their own will.

And if with all the helping it still doesn't work, then the government just has to continue to provide for these persons. Sometimes they get more help form the government than a worker gets paid in his job, but hey, the VAT carousel has to keep spinning.

The question is not whether we approve or not of prostitution, smoking, gambling - the point is about the state imposing full totalitarian control instead of trying to do everything to preserve the freedom of people of minorities.

Commies just don't care.
