Menthol inhalers and men with long fingernails

Featured Replies

Just wondering if you others out there see these?

The menthol inhalers (?), is that when someone is fighting off a cold? I remember as a kid when we would have colds, sometimes Mums would rub the Vicks on our chests when we went to bed but, really, here, I see these people putting what looks like a Chapstick to their noses, quite regularly. Nasal problems or what? What's the point?

Also, whats up with men and long fingernails? See Thai men sometimes with one, like the pinky, is this also a nasal matter (?), pinky picker? Actually once saw a farang guy in Kamala where all his fingernails were long and looked to be manicured and it wasn't the X-Men guy Jackman. I was always under the impression this was/is bad health etiquette.......grandpa always used to rant about this one, dirt under the nails, bacteria, etc.

I'm in impression that the one long fingernail is a Chinese way to tell others: "I'm better than people who do manual labor. My fingernail is a proof that I have not done manual work for ages."

Inhalers are a bit habit forming. The air can be stuffy and full of pollution, so inhalers feel nice. Clear nasal passages etc.
Doesnt your nose get more bunged up here than in other countries?

As for fingernails, as above, status symbol for "My fingernail is a proof that I have not done manual work for ages."
