My sons first UK passport

Featured Replies

I applied for my sons passport back in April. I've been informed it will be in bangkok within the next ten working days. I applied around the time when all the applications for passports moved to the vfs centre. Vfs gave me a contact number but it doesn't work. I was just wondering if anyone can help.

Do I need to collect it from there or can it be sent via ems? We live in nakhon Si thammarat so it's a pain going to bangkok to get it. If they don't post by ems can we collect on Saturdays?

Also does anyone know how long they will keep it at the vfs centre for?

I hope someone can help.

That's what I was afraid of.

These are the documents that I prepared ( from memory):

1. Application form

2. Passport photos x 2 - you should check online about the requirements, they seemed quite strict when I was applying.

3. Your British birth certificate

4. Your child's birth certificate, this also needs to be translated and legalised by the ministry of foreign affairs (that's if your child was born overseas)

5. You need a countersignatory and they need to be British, Irish, from the eu or American. You will need a copy of their passport too.

6. You need a copy of every single page of your passport too, they need to be colour copies and each page needs to be signed by you.

7. You also need a copy of your partners passport but not every page, just the photo page.

When you go to vfs to submit the documents you must email them first to make an appointment.

I think that's everything, but best check online in case I missed something. Good luck

Thanks a lot for the information! Good luck
