Accomodation/Condo information/question

Apologies if this should sit in a different Forum or is covered elsewhere but have looked and don't see it...

...my (Thai) wife and I are looking at getting a condo here in CM as a vacation base. We're based longer-term elsewhere in Thailand but really like CM and pop across here once every couple of months or so via BKK. Two questions then:

1. Any recommendations on the more falang-friendly condo/living areas? My wife has family around the Doi Suthep area and we've checked out that side (see below) and are for the next couple of days driving round in general. I've seen places on the other side of town - near the railway station - general thoughts/advice wanted, please.

2. As I said, we've looked out towards Doi Suthep and thought we'd found the 'ideal' place two months ago. For obvious reasons, I won't name the location but we went back this week and the development had hardly moved and as far as I can see, they haven't sold m(any) more units from the 50% or so that were booked when we looked last time. Looking at their - and indeed craftily at every - visitors log book, it seems the new developments aren't getting much in the way of footfall at all. Is the market cooling off here or is this just, in people's estimation, an effect of the current situation/time of year?

Thoughts and guidance welcomed - thanks in advance.
