Best place to get a Stool Test done?

Featured Replies

Not a pleasant topic, but I've had a bad stomach for two weeks, so it's time to get it properly diagnosed, and not just do the "casino medicine" approach of trying different antibiotics until (if) you find the right one. I haven't been to the hospital yet, but hospitals around BKK never seem to find anything in stool tests, despite the fact that you're obviously sick.

I'm wondering if there's a medical lab or other facility that does better diagnosis (in Bangkok).

PS: I'm sure it's from something I ate. (eg it's not cancer)

Any hospital lab can do this, but you need to be sure that what is ordered includes an actual stool culture. The standard stool tests are not that, they just look for parasites (and will still miss them half the time).

Which generally means that you need to see a GI specialist who will order a culture and not treat "shot gun" style.

You could try this place, they might be able to arrange culture first and appointment with doctor afterwards as I find them pretty flexible that way and easy to deal with on the phone. http://www.digestivebkk.com/Default.aspx?tabid=141

Among their doctors, recommend either Prof. Varocha or Prof. Rungsun, both are top notch GI specialists.

Dr. Warisara Tangpradabkiet at Sukhumvit Hospital is very good. she helped me out a lot. turned out i had a peptic ulcer.

i recommend her.
