FB down briefly

Facebook Inc.FB +1.83% was working again Thursday morning, after an outage affecting the social networking giant’s apps and website across the world.

For roughly 30 minutes users of the social network got a generic error message saying that the company was working on getting the issue fixed.

The outage occurred shortly before 1 a.m. in Menlo Park, Calif., where the company is based.

From London to Hong Kong, users switched social networks to complain and commiserate, in what has become something of an outage ritual when social networking or chat program’s crash.

On Twitter TWTR +1.89%, people shared pictures of error messages and joked about the outage being the worst thing that has ever happened to them.

Facebook didn’t immediately respond to requests for comment.

Facebook’s market valuation stands at about $168 billion.

I'm glad the world survived FB's 30 minute downtime. Some may feel if FB was to go down for a whole day it would cause a mass extinction, trigger nuclear war, etc. Personally, I think everybody would survive, but I'm guessing...I have no facts to back up my guess.
