Surface Pro 3 is now available in U.S but we still have to wait at least until end of August to come to Thailand.

Is there any chance I can get a Surface Pro 3 from U.S for now? Please kindly suggest me if you have any idea. (I do not have U.S credit card).

thank you.

Google for online retailers that sell the Surface Pro 3, and then check to see if they will ship to Thailand and what the shipping charges and import tax will be. Don't know about the credit card situation but if you have a PayPal account you should be OK. With the expense and trouble involved, it might be preferable to wait the two months. FYI, I recently bought a Sony VAIO Tap 11, which is available on Lazada and believe that it is superior to the Surface Pro although I have not had a look at the Surface 3 yet.

If you can arrange payment with a US vendor, then you can arrange to have it delivered to Thailand via Shipito. The best odds for avoiding Customs charges upon arrival in Thailand is to use USPS rather than a package courier service.

Thank you for the suggestions, I will try Shipito first. But i only have local debit card and it might not be the proper payment channel.

Or you can wait until the end of August :-). In fact, also Europe seems to be getting it in August.

It sure looks like an impressive piece of hardware though, no doubt.

Does anybody know what the projected price of the Surface Pro will be in Thailand?

Also, does Microsoft offer an international warranty on models bought in Thailand or just a local one. Same question for units purchased in the USA; can an international warranty be obtained?

A friend wants to buy one for use here. He's not sure whether to have a friend bring one from the US or to wait and purchase here.

Two days ago, I asked at Banana IT and the staff answered that we have to wait until October to arrive Pro 3 in Thailand. Don't know if that would be true or not.

I bought the Surface Pro 1 back in March last year via myUS.com

From memory, FedEx was the only shipping option to Thailand. I paid about 4000 baht in customs for the surface and the type cover. You have to pay the courier the customs when they deliver the goods.

I did it because there was no release date for the surface pro in Thailand at that stage.

I had a problem with the power supply. There wass no Microsoft support in Thailand at that time as they weren't selling any hardware and they had no retail presence. MS said I had to ship it back to the US. I ended up buying a power supply of eBay instead as it was cheaper than shipping the faulty one to the US.

Maybe it will be different now as MS are selling hardware here, but they still have no retail presence. So, you can't walk into a MS store and get something replaced. If you walk into a computer shop that you didn't buy the SP3 from and they don't even sell it, what are they going to do?

I want to get the SP3, but I'll wait till it is in stores in Thailand this time.

In hindsight I think buying from the MS site is ok if you live in the us and can take the product back to a bricks and mortar ms store if there's a problem. But for me, I'll wait till I can but it at a local store and let them deal with any problems.

^^^^^^^^

My Thai is not very good, but did the article above give a date that it would be available in Thailand? I couldn't see one.

Hi If you have a Google Chrome browser it will translate it for you, there is a link on the page that takes you to Microsoft and they say it will not be available until the end of August.

Do they mention a release date in this video?

I heard Banana IT mentioned. Will they have them before other retailers?

The only thing I could understand was the prices for each if the 5 models.

Thanks ThaiLife. MS could learn something from Apples marketing. Announce a product and then make it available for people to buy in most countries almost immediately.

The 2 month delay since they have been on sale in the US gives people time to rethink their initial gear lust.

After reading and seeing the real world reports the last few weeks, the thermal throttling is making me reconsider. Most of the things I do won't be a problem, but it's still nice to know that you can use all of the power if you need it.

That being said, I'll probably still rush out and buy one when they are available here

I seriously suggest you wait.

A friend purchased one online from the US and had a friend bring it here to Thailand about 5 weeks ago. I was with him when it arrived. He was like a kid at Christmas.

From first power-up, it was nothing but one problem after another: keyboard wouldn't function, display crashed, couldn't re-start for over 24 hours, Wi-Fi connection problems, ect., ect, ect!

He tried uploading new firmware updates but could never complete the update. Finally, after hours on the phone with M-soft, told to send it back...of course the replacement warranty had already run out. He was able to get an extension of that but realized he had to hide the fact it was being shipped from Thailand...had to originate at his original ship to address and be returned to that...one headache after another. He finally was able to get it to Microsoft and they have sent a replacement unit (he could tell replacement, not repair by serial numbers) to his original address and he has arranged for yet another friend to carry it here at the end of this month. Now he's sitting around with his fingers and toes crossed

He loved the form and function of the machine, it really is gorgeous but it does not yet seem ready for prime time, especially from 10K miles away.

Just the money he has spent on FedEx wiped out any savings from buying it there. BTW, another headache was ONLY FedEx would accept it for shipment to US because of battery regulations. DHL and UPS said no.

I strongly suggest you at least wait until you can buy from a local vendor with local support.

I was just in Banana IT here in Chiang Rai. They had this sign up

They said you can pre - order now.

I asked if there was any special price or free things if you pre order. Nope, but you get to pay 30% now.

I asked when they would be in stock. They said "next month". I asked what date. They looked a bit perplexed, then said 10th. I kind of got the impression that he was just pulling a date out of his ass to get me to go away.

Can't see any point in pre ordering.

I doubt they will sell out.

I would love to buy one of these too but the model I want, the top spec i7 model would set me back nearly £1650 - or 89,000 baht ?

And that's without the keyboard or stylus!

Damn me and my lack of achievement in life, lol..

Good luck if you get one OP

I must be missing something here. I bought a high end laptop core i7 (with a keyboard) and 17 inch screen nearly 3 years ago that cost a lot less than the Surface Pro 3? Are we being taken for a ride?

Yes portability...and the surface pro 3 is an i7 it has a smaller screen but you cannot write on yours.

(1) not a touch screen I presume

(2) "standard sized" parts like a 17" screen are cheaper

(3) in electronics it generally costs more to make things small than to make things big, often a lot more

I went into Banana IT in Chiang Rai today at lunch and they didn't have them in the store (today is supposed to be launch day in Thailand).

They said they are not sure when they will get them in the store.

They still have all of the signs up promoting it, but have no idea about the actual product availability.

At least when Apple or Samsung launch a product, if they say it will be launched on a certain date, they make sure that the stores have it on that date.

I second that. Availability is key.

Guess I´ll wait a bit. Prices are just a bit high for my taste right now.
