Help with USA stuff

Featured Replies

I have taken up a new job (clap2.gif ) and being a big guy, I need some nice pants and shoes from the US. But on a 5000thb cost for all that I need, they want to charge me about 2500thb for shipping (DHL) and another 2500thb for duties and fees, prepaid. Arai wa? These are comfort shoes, not the usual crap found locally. The pants are super comfortable, so the tailors here only make my shirts.

Is anyone in the US willing to get the stuff and bring? Even shipito is expensive, I ain't rich. Any ideas, besides to lose weight? biggrin.png

Did you try the Export Shop at Ocean Shopping Mall? There is also a shop that has a range at Central Festival at well, or at MBK in Bangkok.

I also think it would be far cheaper to get the clothes tailor-made here.

You can get shoes made as well at one of those leather shops that cater to tourists.

Good luck with your new job.

I hope you don't have to wear a tie.

LOL. Actually, for the first 3 months, I have to wear a god-forsaken tie. Yes, tried both those places. Not been to BKK since 2005.

I would check into having it shipped via US mail, will take 3-4 weeks but will be much less expensive.

The only option with those yahoos is DHL. No other shipment option.

I have my shoes custom made here in Thailand and pay 1000 baht a pair.

Ship it to a friend in the US and get them to re-ship via USPS. USPS is cheaper and for whatever reason, doesn't seem to get hammered by the import duties that seem to plague fedex or UPS

But with DHL you won't get hit with the local taxes.

Had Mom ship with USPS a couple pairs of Levi's I had in storage. Local mail guy taxed me 800thb.....
